Very interesting concept, I've always wondered what would happen if the sheath were to fail and not the core. The first part confirmed what I figured would happen.
I'm thinking maybe they interwove the core and cover some how so the cover doesn't slip on the core when cut?

Interlocking the core and cover during the weaving process would be an interesting experiment, but as far as I know the Uni Core is bonded with some sort of glue. I have also not been able to find any outdoor rated, except for this ad. The Uni Cores on the Beal web sight are specifically labeled for indoor use.
