That Company makes the BEST wood handle tools that last the longest (Mauls last despite the beating) ... I think Maine mebbee , not sure if still in business
Some Amish folks bought the company. They make axes, but I don't know if they still make picaroons. The handle is awesome for sure.
 
That's a fine gift. Never had one of their tools, but their reputation is stellar. My impression was you bought S&N when you wanted the best, money be damned.
 
Snow and Nealley still makes axes, back in Maine after a brief spell in China! The marking is amazingly well preserved, doesn't look like that got much use. Never seen a pickaroon by them before, that's super cool.

Two of them works well for stacking; not so much bending over. Used to have a couple back in the day, when I had only wood heat. they were shape slightly different though for easier removal.
