I was timber cruising today, marking oak trees for felling.
The dogs had to "help out", of course, being specialists in marking trees.

They were pretty done in after a day of running around in the oak trees.

So was I, actually.

Well I finally took a few days off and it could've started out a little better. RIP ole Thundy. Twisted a gut on me.

He was a great dog. Not a mean bone in him, stoic to the end. Heart rate doubled and clearly suffering but not a whimper or whine out of him.

Thanks. About thirteen years out of him. He lived a good life. Was hoping/thinking he'd make the summer. Seems shitty to live through the winter and die in the spring. We really babied him this last year and glad we did.

Younger days.

Always kind of wondered. Today he scaled out at 135pds. That's as a skinny old bag of bones compared to what he was. That's got to put his 'brother' Tanky at a easy 170-180 as he is clearly much much larger than Thundy had become. One of my favourite pics of the boys. Now knowing some reference I'd guess Thundy was pushing 150 in this pic. In his prime.

Hey, Justin. My condolences on the loss of your dog Thunder. May he rest in peace.

Also, that is about the cutest photograph I've ever seen of a little girl and her doggy. Precious times.

Tim

Sorry to hear that, Justin.
It has been fun following him here.
13 years is OLD for a dog that big, you got lucky that way.
