here's my bike. It's a Trek 7100 that I picked up used last year for $200. I know almost nothing about bikes except that I knew I didn't want a skinny tired road bike (been there, they suck). It isn't really an off road bike, more of a hybrid. 21 speed.

My mom bought me this freeride Gary Fisher hardtail for my last birthday, full hydro brakes, yada yada. I am hoping to rip it up alot more this year, less mayhem hopefully. I'd like to pick up a full sus. towards the end of the year, but I need to replace the dirtbike first.

nice bikes guys. I put some shimano Deore parts on the Kona cuz the GF that I had at the time that rode it was a smash'n shift changing gears with the gripshifters.. My Rocky mountain has mostly XTR on it I think ecxept maybe the bottom bracket. I like the look and the reasonable price for hydro brakes now, if I get to riding more often I am thining I will change out the rim rubbers for a decent hydraulic system.

Crank 'er up!

I got me one of the big tire bikes, 4 or 4.5" wide. It's nearly impossible to slip on mud unless it's extreme mud, which surprised me a bit. My experience coming from cheap mountain bikes or the crossover types with much less aggressive tread. It is a heavy bike though, and I wish it had a lower gear mostly for the fun of it.

The scariest biking I did was with some friends when we were using cheap mountain bikes, starting way up a huge hill/small mountain. They were going full speed and I was struggling to keep up in high gear pedaling down hill so fast my feet are about to fly off the pedals, probably going 45mph. There was almost no shoulder on the road, cars flying by us, a 300-1000ft cliff on the other side, and those bikes don't feel too stable pedaling hard at 45mph. I'm like what's the rush wearing ourselves out racing down hill when we could have enjoyed coasting the 2 miles down?
