Lol Gary, I actually called it due to wind already this year. I'm not a fan of lifts to this day hahahaha. Kinda why i started climbing in the first place

Youse guys have been a stable, accepting location during my time here.

Been a lot more accommodating towards me than I deserved.

I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to converse with you folks.

Jim, you have been a first rate contributor from day one of your joining. Thanks for being in the crew.

Or in construction, no one has ever heard of the steel tipping over! I'm curious on how I'll do on this 450 foot tower job, that's a whole nother level of up there. I'm sure the wind is something else. And i hope to God i won't have to take the stairs hahahahaha. Welding at 400 foot will be something else. I start hiring in on Monday, weld test Tuesday.

Oh I'm sure I'll forget I'm up there once i start work, it's just gonna be a new experience. I'm more worried about shielding the wind for tig roots, we're gonna have to basically completely enclose the weld area with tarps or something... and trying to use a hardhat hood in that wind....grrrrrrrr

Edit: Jim I'm sure it's a ton, thankfully there will likely be no 6010.

Kyle, it throws me off when you call yourself a fitter and a welder. I know a welder can do a fitters job but around they're pretty particular about separation between the two, title- wise at least.

I have hung many a tarp to shield wind for tig welding. And if the weld fails we come back to "seal it better." Good luck on the new gig. Sounds like one of those jobs you'll always look back on. Hopefully with pride.

In my local, they are paid the same, others pay welders more. The only distinction is qualifications they have, and yes some welders get bent out of shape if you call them fitters. I will take any dispatch call i get, welder or fitter, they are both essential parts of the trade. Often they bump me to a welder anyways lol. Pipeline the distinction is huge, and welders get all proud of the fact they pass xray every day to keep a job, which is why they act like they do. I'm from a building trades hall, so the distinction really doesn't exist, welding is just another skill that just about everyone has, so we are all steamfitters together. In fact, in my hall they make the apprentices weld on everything they can, they are younger and need the hours under the hood while the grownups work out in front of them with the critical layout and rigging work. We also make them help with the rigging so they learn that too.
