How to cut 3/4" Yale bull rigging rope

I had a really nice riggers knife made by a friend, as I always wanted one. I am not fond of melting the ends too much as it can inhibit any milking in the line. Just enough to stop the fibres fraying.

I've never had a issue with the melted ends inhibit milking, the core just pulls inside the cover. When it gets annoying I just remelt. I like melting things. Nice knife BTW.

It is impressive how much we have been taught to cut rope into-the-bind. Double it over and keep cutting the compression fibers by pushing a knife against the bight. Works on 'normal' sized stuff, ok (not tree-work sized ropes).

On the half inch and belows the one touch I like is shoving the taped cut end through a ceramic fence post insulator , then torch. Makes a small hard tight end seal , almost as good as whipping.
