Saw video thread

Well , I really do not need the cash-0-la to be quite honest ... some make their living porting chainsaws... which is fine ... do competent work and business will follow ... I’ve found that word-of-mouth is my best strategy ... do my saws make the most hp ? - I doubt it but that’s not the avenue I’m pursuing ... Gent wants a saw built to “x” ; talk ensues and the deal is on ... very simple imho

We had 2 nice 064 at a place I worked at in 99-03. They worked well and were the big saws besides the 084av they occasionally brought out. It was early in my career and I had no other saw experience with 80cc+ to compare them to. Wish I could have another day or two with one now. The place ended up going out of business and I bought my 441 from them when they were liquidating. The 064s were partially assembled basket cases by then.

In stock form the 064 runs well ... open the muffler and let them breathe you notice a nice gain ( far more than then newer epa-friendly saws) ; with a velocity-stack , port-work and tuned exhaust they become a different animal ! If a guy wanted more, boring the carb will allow more performance ... it’s just a matter of the cylinder and what they give you from the factory - the “older” (044,046,064,066) pre-epa saws have superior port-timing / cylinders from jump-street and more importantly no strato-charged nonsense that the modern versions employ

That’s about $120 here in the USA ... I’ll take 8 for $1000 k

They are available on eBay but buying used can be a crapshoot , lotta scammers not using oem parts (cranks , bearings , seals , jugs/slugs etc ...) and you can end up stuck with a 🍋

Stock saws ? Did you say STOCK SAWS ? This is an outrage ! I’m calling the Saw police :withstupid:

The older generation 550xp and 562xp were great saws ... when they ran ... with the new 550xp and 572xp it’s seems Husqvarna has replaced Sum Ting Wong with a more competent QC manager ...

... me likey the 572xp :-({|=

Makes me wanna make the next 50 a Husky.
They’re frikkin sexy now too!
You can’t go wrong with either a 261c or a 550xp ; Both can be made into strong runners for sure ... With a Cannon supermini bar 16-20”(or STIHL bar but limited to 16”) and ps 63 chain the 261c when properly modded can get 50%+ faster cutting than a stocker running 3/8 .050 ... I haven’t fiddled with the mark2 550 yet but imagine similar results can be obtained

How about a stock saw video. Comparing Husqvarna 550xp mkII against a Stihl 362c and an Echo 590, all running big tooth 3/8 chain 7t. The last clip the 550 is running oregon chain, all other clips before they are using the same Stihl chain.

... 572xp Comin along nicely ... pleasantly surprised the wrap handle and big dogs for it only set me back $29.99 ! The STIHL wrap for the 462c is over $150 ! Still waiting on piston circlips though - Husqvarna time frame for parts seems a heckuva lot longer than STIHL although time of year may be a factor

572xp with tuned exhaust and some intake work ... when ported it should be right there with Hotsaws101 461R which ain’t bad as its 70.6cc vs the 461R 76.5cc ... full circle crank on this 572xp and she cuts smooth as silk - some righteous flow enhancements and who knows ... she might turn hotsaws into coleslaw :D

Little “saw porn here” .... 4F44F639-640A-49A5-BD93-9E4D7E51DD74.jpeg wrap-handle and dogs + extra (top of cover) and larger clutch cover ...$ 29.99 !!! I’ve got 10 tanks of fuel thru her and have fabricated a tuned - exhaust ... STIHL guy at heart but man .... IF a guy can harness / extract the FULL-POWA then they will have a kick-ass unit with a 24” bar
