Leaving gear aloft.

I never would leave fabric life support gear aloft. I don't trust any of the several species of chewing critters that spend time up in the canopy to leave it be :).

I have left many a throw line, and only once had it damaged by chewing...but once is enough confirmation of the potential risk for me. And never in a rope or strap friction saver. I have had need on a very few occasions to leave a friction saver aloft with a throw line in it. In that case, I custom built a chain ring and ring friction saver. Worked a treat every time, but you had to make sure the anchor limb was wide open, and you surely wanted to stay well out of the fall path, when it came time to pull it free.
