The Daisy Chain Hitch

Thanks for the head's up on this knot. It wasn't on my short list of 6/7/8 essential knots (I have a book that features the main ones hat I teach my sons: square knot, bow line, figure 8, fisherman's splice, trucker's hitch, sheet bend + slipped/running/locked variations). Now I've added this knot and the alpine butterfly to my repertoire. We've gone on a carabiner diet with our chipper's winch line (it was too well fed), going with just knots. It's been working great the last couple of days to use the daisy chain hitch instead of a carabiner, even for very heavy logs it hasn't failed and is easily released. I even used it the day after the chipper carnage when we didn't have a winch line -- hitched a rope to the chipper truck and pulled two yew bushes out of the ground for a customer. Knots released easily even after some pretty major slow & steady tugging on the bushes.
