    One of my favorite books is a Peterson Field Guide of Western Birds.

    It sits next to my chair.

    I see birds all day long, then I look them up when I get home.

    The article was cool the way it described the grebes surviving the incredible rain storms. I often think of the same thing when cold rain is pelting down and I'm warm and dry under my asphalt shingles, the way the critters are dealing with it.

    I think about that all the time with the little house sparrows that live here.

    30 below and those little buggers are sitting on a branch out side.

    I use an app called Merlin Bird ID from Cornell Labs, even has bird calls and songs. When the squirrels come up on the deck I'll play a red hawk call. It's fun to watch'em evaporate.
