The Official Work Pictures Thread

No he’s serious about that. I’ve been on certain sites where they do a search before entering. Some things are kept secret for proprietary reasons and others are considered national security. I’ve asked questions on a few. I was told that the FB & I would beat me to the gate if I was to leave without the proper headaches

Can you translate this sentence into English please Rich? You lost me when you got to this line.

Basically they said I would be met at the gate by the feds if I tried to leave with out going through the proper procedures. Takes an hour just to leave some of the sites. The FB& I was paying tribute to how Roscoe P Coaltrain would refer to them. Anyhow it’s quite a headache but I get paid to sit through it all. I probably have 40-50 hours a year sitting in a classroom watching videos of do’s and don’ts Just to be able to enter these places. Seems a bit unreasonable to have a bit of treework done

Rich, the amount of oqs (operator qualifications) i have to sit thru is mind boggling, i feel your pain.

 yup. This year it was "You have these 15, but you need the hands on on these two, so you have to go do these before you can do anything"

Me: "but I've been doing this, with you sitting right there, for 2 months straight now!"

Dem: "rules is rules"

I actually had one inspector try to tell me i didn't have "visual weld inspection." This is after I've been welding for a couple months, on live gas, not to mention that is the one oq that helpers are required to have lol. The head of the welding department ended up being contacted, and told them to leave me alone, because weld certs override that crap.

They’re just covering all the bases. It all pays the same, I’d rather be going through security than laying in a ditch setting myself on fire.

Lol have you seen me draw? Absolutely horrible stick figures...

While the guys were moving along on some removals, I went to a little job next door and pretended I was doing the Tahunne Airwalk job. Only 15 foot tall though. Just tossed the chunks over a fence onto a couple sheets of plywood

I saw a stick figure drawing a little girl made for school. She said it was her Mom. It looked like she was swinging on a pole and a bunch of guys standing around trying to give her $$$$. When the girl brought the drawing home and Mom saw it she sent a note to the teacher explaining she was not an exotic dancer. She works at Home Depot and there was a run on snow shovels due to an approaching storm. When she found one more in the stock room a lot of people wanted to be the buyer. Mom said she would check her little girls homework before she took it in from now on.

After removing a low limb or two overhanging the cable line, I cut and lowered this 80' maple, tip-tied, hung from 1/2" stable braid through a Rig-n-Ring, parallel to the power line, without laying it on the weeping birch. Rig and rig was hung over three fir branches below the old break-out. Stout branches.

What badass looking mountain is that. You ever go up there and commune?

That's Mount Rainier. I see it all the time from tree tops, as well as from town, at ground level, in the right places.

I went up there last, a year ago Thanksgiving, sledding with the kid and dinner.

I've literally transplanted moss 5-6" off a big, lateral oak trunk, years ago.

Bigleaf maples are known for their epiphytes.
