It was a smart move....let him protect his hand from the knife as he tried to help the woman. If nothing like that is handy you can use your shoe on your hand...let the shoe take a cut instead of you. That lady got stabbed a lot.

Better solution for the rescuer is a good stick, shovel....or gun.

Yes, as I was watching that video I found myself involuntarily over and over saying kill him kill him kill him.

I'd say normal. Just not used to seeing it with all the past years small snow falls.

This one is from this morning, I'm one street south of my place, in the city, going to price out a tree job.

My x-wife drove a 2CV for years.
Wish I'd thought of this.

That is the sound of my childhood winters, too.
Probably why I liked it so.

Grew up next to the second largest lake in the country.
When I was 12 I talked my dad into driving around to the other side and picking me up, so I could skate across it with the wind in my back.
Slightly foggy day, so once I was gone for a few minutes, I couldn't see the banks, I was all alone in the mist.
The sound of the ice cracking under me was pretty scary out there.
It was a fine adventure.

Thats a good story.

One winter in particular I spent a lot of time on the ice.

It was the winter of 91/92 after a big fire had burned up 190,000 acres and a bunch of homes and farms.

Dad spent all fall and winter burying homes and outbuildings. I spent a lot of time with him, and there was always a pond around somewhere.

The sound of a rock skittering across a pond after being whacked by the biggest burned willow you could find was great.

Wait - all those weird sounds were ice cracking???

The eff was that backward stuff at the end? Just something to make people ask that question?

This is worth a watch.
Some good logging footage, but the best part is footage from logging and other related competitions back then.

Good video...canoe jumping over logs...never saw that before. Dynamite and log jams...tumbling lanyarded down a spar...tough folks.

I'm working my way through some of the videos of that uploader:

This is so neat.

Notice how wonderful and culturally interesting the Soviets were, when they were your allies against Germany.

Really worth fighting for.

10 years later the guy who made this film would have been hung for high treason, portraying the evil commies this way.

I've always enjoyed nature films.
