Whats wrong with my Chinquapin Oak

Chinquapin Oak, Quercus muhlenbergii, I think? I just noticed this today. Not sure what the heck it is. It actually kinda stinks. The creamy colored stuff is mushy, like something dead that maybe that bigass beetle killed? Bunch of ants on it too. I gave the beetle a little Isotox shower...

    1/2-3/4-full wrap handlebars.

I noticed in skwerls post about his new husky he didn't want the wrap handle. I personally like a 3/4 wrap handle. Its alot easier to use the saw while making felling cuts. I like to always cut a tree from one side, face it and back cut it from the same side. That way im not running around...

Wish I had my camera yesterday. Our climbers had one that they didn't know what to do with. So they came and got us. Tulip poplar, 24" dbh, 70-75 feet tall. It was a co dom at one point, one side ripped off some time ago. What I was left with was a tree that leaned hard towards the line...

    Too dead to climb?

I got a tulip poplar I went and looked at today. Its 32-36" dbh 60' tall maybe. Its dead. Only maybe 8 good sized limbs left on it, and 2 tops that can just be pulled into the yard. Smallest wood I would have to get on would be 10" maybe. Take a few chunks and drop the rest. Its dead, bark is...

    Mastering the Humbolt notch?

Any tips from the pros? I have no problem aiming a tree with a conventional notch, cuts always line up close to perfect, If they are not they I make them perfect. no dutchmans. Seems I get my flat cut in, then when I do my bottom angled cut, sh!t hits the fan, Not anywhere near where Im...
