I got one of mine from Tru Trailers about 2 hours from me. They do custom builds. Might look near you and see if you have a builder/designer close to you. Like was pointed out, you know what is best for you. Little upgrades like heavier steel sides and such go a long way. I got lucky while i was scouting around and found those guys. Seen a lot of buggered trailers being towed by tree guys. Just lack of corner reinforcement at the doors or thinner steel sides. Probably just bought what looked great new, then found that tree work is hard on them.....lol

I hear ya mang. I had to go out and finish that the job the crane went down on. Had to remotely rig a really nasty limb off next to the house and then clean the steep roof on rope while loads of wood went out. All done. Check hits my hands tomorrow. Feel bad for my crane guy. Crane still stuck there till next week when the pump arrives. Left him a message that i was able to complete the job with out him. He'll come up short what we expected to pay out, but Ill throw in some extra bones for good measure.

We will be using a simular set up.on a clean up of a gulley here soon. We cleared it of old brush piles earlier in the year. Small tree of heaven needs cut now. We'll extract the brash using a high line tensioned with the hobbs. A haul back through a porty up top for friction to help raise the loads to a trolley using a line from the portable winch. The brash will then be landed by the chipper. See if i get a chance to video it.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”

She’ll be 15 in a couple of weeks. Hard to photograph these days. 6’ tall, smart, lazy, a little too sedentary but a good kid.

I was getting bogged down by politics on the rest of the interwebs and peeked in to find this. Politics don’t seem so bad in comparison. Sorry to join the discussion late.

Well here I am arriving late to the party. Well shit this sucks. Can they do that Futurama thing where they preserve your head in a jar? I could see the Head of Masterblaster running this forum for the next millenia. My oldest brother had this same thing a couple of years ago. He refused the goodness that is weed despite losing his appetite. He was OK with chemo which is literally poison but still had some weird ethical bug up his backside. Good to know you will not suffer his false apprehension.

Reg, could you rent a dingo or other mini to handle the heavy stuff? If even just to stage it off to the side to handle smaller later. Might help. Rob and I have managed some pretty large trees that way when short help. Granted, still takes longer than a three man crew, but one mans labor wage about pays the rental.

  3. Hi nick,

I am going to get into learning to splice. When I buy something I would rather buy something I am going to use for a long time rather then something cheap. I want to splice 16 strand, 24 strand, and double braid. What tools do you think I should start out with?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Brandon....
