Idle circuit may be slightly rich. Try turning the low end screw CC a little bit. Idle speed should go up a hair. Hope that does it.

I don't have an issue with the dual rams as much as the wimpy hydraulic pumps they use. I'm thinking a trailer with 9K lb axles and 20K rated hydraulics should be able to handle 15K loads easily enough. My current trailer has a scissors lift and doesn't lift any better than my old one did with dual rams. I still can't load it all the way up in the front or it won't dump. I'm not sure why the 18' tarp costs $200 more than the 16' tarp, especially since they seem to always be 4' too long anyway. I'm leaning towards the 7x16x4 with 9k axles, tarp, spare tire and the heavier floor. My math says that is $11,530 which is reasonable as long as I don't need to put another $2500 into mods. My current trailer will carry just about as much weight as I want to haul anyway, but I'm concerned about being so close to the maximum capacity of the rig. So getting a way bigger trailer isn't as much priority as safely handling what I'm already hauling. I think I'm going to drive up there next week and have a look in person.

I got one of mine from Tru Trailers about 2 hours from me. They do custom builds. Might look near you and see if you have a builder/designer close to you. Like was pointed out, you know what is best for you. Little upgrades like heavier steel sides and such go a long way. I got lucky while i was scouting around and found those guys. Seen a lot of buggered trailers being towed by tree guys. Just lack of corner reinforcement at the doors or thinner steel sides. Probably just bought what looked great new, then found that tree work is hard on them.....lol

Been thinking about replacing my 1 year old dump trailer. Just too many issues, most of which I have already fixed. Several design flaws which make it less than optimal including not being able to dump on rough ground because the tail lights will get ripped out when you pull forward with the bed up. I already had an axle fail (replaced for free) and I had my welding shop reconfigure the front box arrangement so I could have room to operate the tongue jack without my knuckles hitting the back of my truck. I still have issues with the flimsy gate latches as well as the doors which are half the weight/thickness of the rest of the trailer. Current is a 7x14x4 with 7k lb axles which is pretty standard. Found a place that makes them up to 7x20x4 with 7k, 8k or 9k axles. Currently getting prices for 7x16x4 and 7x18x4 with 8k and 9k axles. I think I will take a drive up there next week and have a look in person (about 160 miles away). http://www.topshelftrailers.com/18-000-lb-low-profile-dump-trailer.html

Holy cow! I apologize to those of you who thought I was being an asshole with my last post. I was actually impressed with Marc's diagnosis and was trying to be funny. I hate being misunderstood. But you all keep on thinking I'm an asshole, that's fine. I'll head back over to my car forum and leave the tree shit to you.

I understand that mentality as well. I think one of the biggest reasons I've had such difficulty working with others is because I simply cannot tolerate working with idiots and/or people who just DGAF about what they are doing. When I was subcontracting I'd tolerate it with every single crew I worked with for just so long and then I'd quit working with them. I don't know how or why it happened but I really have been blessed with a huge gift in my life when I hired Ron to start working with me last summer. I finally found another person just like me. He can't stand working with idiots, either. And he has no filter, so he comes across as rude and obnoxious at times, but I can understand (and predict) almost everything that comes out of his mouth. But we sure do work well together. I'm amazed at how our sum total exceeds each of our abilities individually. Today we had to drop off a truck at my Altec guy in Sarasota. Over 2 hours each way, so we had time to talk a bit on the way back. Ron told me he wants to find and train a ground guy to take his place so he can take my place and I can stay home. I'm blown away that our working relationship has grown to this point and he wants to build a future working for me. It's the next logical step, but I wasn't sure if he wanted to take on more responsibility like that. And obviously I'm not going to quit working and sit at home but having someone to run easier jobs while I attend other issues would be awesome. So now our dilemma is to find a third person just like us. I laughed and told him it took me 15 years to find him, and our chances of finding a third means we are going to have to weed through a hell of a lot of idiots! But I'm absolutely floored at how much this has improved my outlook today. It feels like today is a turning point of sorts and we have become a team working toward a common goal instead of just an employer and employee. I'm doing a happy dance in my mind, even if my hip won't let me do it in my living room.

I hear ya mang. I had to go out and finish that the job the crane went down on. Had to remotely rig a really nasty limb off next to the house and then clean the steep roof on rope while loads of wood went out. All done. Check hits my hands tomorrow. Feel bad for my crane guy. Crane still stuck there till next week when the pump arrives. Left him a message that i was able to complete the job with out him. He'll come up short what we expected to pay out, but Ill throw in some extra bones for good measure.

We will be using a simular set up.on a clean up of a gulley here soon. We cleared it of old brush piles earlier in the year. Small tree of heaven needs cut now. We'll extract the brash using a high line tensioned with the hobbs. A haul back through a porty up top for friction to help raise the loads to a trolley using a line from the portable winch. The brash will then be landed by the chipper. See if i get a chance to video it.

Very dead trees. Hinge ability is minimal. Good thing you have the lean mostly in the right direction because those probably wouldn't follow a hinge too far out of the direction of the lean. Second tree should be easy to flop now that the part leaning toward the shed is gone. Lay it in the same place as the first one.
