A bent guide is easily replaced. Been lumber, not easily straightened.

Metal in large wood would be an expensive problem. How much of a small fortune?

Its the only dealer near me, and I avoid it. My grinder is the only Vermeer that I own. Its effectively sold to a guy a mile from me, once my lazy mechanic is back from fishing with his grandkids and spending time with his sons, taking care of his elderly mother, not working on his hunting e-bike (bmx bike with a double rifle rack on the handlebars), and puts an engine on my Rayco, that I've never found time to do.

Amazing! Sold a couple pieces. Met a nice librarian wanting to get into woodworking.

Good info in this thread. Have a woman coming over for milled wood tomorrow. Gotta figure some prices out.

I've been eye-ing the WMLT15wide that Dave suggested, if this 42" cut-homemade bandsaw on a trailer, doesn't turn out. I'm willing to finance something better than what I could pay now/ pay-off sooner. I'm refinancing my mortgage at the moment, so the mill purchase will be at least after that. Finding the time to do it all is difficult. I've been trying to find time to chainsaw mill huge pieces for a long time, that are sitting out in the weather, not end-sealed. Tree work pays predictably the end of the project. Might be sending D to public school this year, instead, freeing up a good number of dollars. Portability versus capacity, one facet.

Crane-question, standing up single-sling picks on barberchair-prone species... Any issues? A crane job I did about 5 years ago, I had a forest maple start to split me. Wasn't being stood up really, but split all the same. Before cutting, I wrapped it with about 4- 6 turns of 1/2" rope that I had, for whatever reason. Maybe small diameter for a chain binder, dunno. Poor choice. I bailed out on an SRT -choking canopy and he just broke the uncut bit free. A small pick for his capacity. Just the top off of one of the smaller maple trees, out of 8, so the details blur.

No disagreement there. However, there is social bullying through Facebook Likes, or withheld likes. Social obligation to Like a friend's post, and such silliness. The like button doesn't encourage discussion.

I like the turner idea. Maybe less slamming cants into the mill. Like the board pusher. A guy I know made his WM push the other direction, on the regular return pass.

Many people are 'Like' addicted, as social approval releases dopamine in most. They want their fix, like all addicts.

She probably just sinks. I do, unless I have my lungs super full, then my face, not head, barely sticks out, and I start to sink right away if I exhale, without treading water. Maybe a slim weight belt.

...balanced with a measured dose of scaring stuff, just no touchy. My one gutter incident was $300. A small maple branch, aerodynamically butt-down tagged it a little. A little was too much. My friend used to call brushing roofs and lines giving it the "HI 5". Strong rock climber, 5.8 tree climber.

If it looks like I asked a question, but put a period, it's probably a question.
Don't know why I'm question-mark challenged online. 😀 New Year's Resolution, better proof reading.
