Frigging bears. When I was like 14-17 I worked on a farm all through high school and it was loads of fun changing irrigation in the cornfield this time of year. You'd hear the buggers tromping around in there. atleast they were well fed. I'd have a half broken down dirtbike and not much else. All hand move guns on the farm I was on. Just whistle a tune and hope for the best. Never did have an issue though. It was just part of the job, yup there's bears in there. Be careful.

Uhh Stig you know we have polar bears too right? So it was only you imagining a international chest thumping over bears. 8) The general knowledge/rule of thumb is to not challenge or try to scare off a grizzly. Atleast that I'm aware of. Submission, quiet posture and averted eyes is the playbook I was taught. Lots of people mistake brown bears for grizzlys in my locale which are just brown black bears. Shoo them away like a stray dog.

Except for me. I'm not scared of bears. Maybe grizz a little, unless they're wearing a ranger hat.

If grizzly bears 'scare off'. I think that might be news to them. ;) I've never met a polar bear. But if I do. I'll just offer him a coke.

It was a grizzly that ate that guy. 'Grizz, the only bear to fear' Black bears are like neighbours pets up here. Shoo them off if they're menacing your garbage.

It's just a job to me. But I see what Mick means about the drama that can develop. That said, one of the most enjoyable parts of this regular job is the social interaction. Yes you get a lot of interaction as a small business owner but it's not really a level playing field when it's a customer or an employee.

It's played to my favour so far. He seems to choose his words/topics more appropriately around me. I don't mind if someone needs to vent a little. But don't be the broken record at work always spewing your personal shit.

I work with a younger fella who likes to 'vent' all his personal woes to anyone who will listen at work. I cut him off mid-sentence now. Sorry man, I DON'T CARE! Yes I am a heartless bastard. :D

Bringing personal problems to work. Bleh. Leave it at home, or stay at home. Glad you got your saw back Frans.

But but. Without a like button think of all the 'housers that will be turning to things like heroine and fentanyl, or video games or fatty foods for their dopamine hit? I mean it now seems somewhat socially irresponsible not to have a like button no?

It was the father the wolf was trying to drag off. Not the kids. Just saying......

Good old reporting lol. The 'regret' is taken out of context. It was meant to portray 'regret' as in he may have just stepped up to something much beyond his ability to handle. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/wolf-attack-rampart-creek-banff-1.5245105

Well the dirtbike casualty turned out to be a young neighbour 29. Out Friday night for a rip snort around the block. No light on the bike, no helmet on the head. I still did a wheelie up the hill on the way home today. It's my spot, now I just give a nod and a RIP before I do.

Sounds right. No need to kill someone, well unless there is a need. But usually there is not!

I will add often the flexible rod magnets come as a two for and the 2nd piece is a four claw pick up tool which is super handy and often does the trick too.

Nothing wrong with screwing up mechanical endeavours. It can/will be fixed! You're light years ahead just doing that stuff yourself in the first place.

I would try all of those things in about that same order I think. I've got a magnet rod and it's an invaluable tool to have. So I'd definetly start there. Rained/raining all weekend here. I changed the plugs in my wife's ninja 300 and cleaned every inch of it, all the plastics inside and out.
