Sep replied to a thread Ups and Downs... in MBTV
Yes, just thread a single ring, x ring sling to speedline rope. Then tie off the other end to piece to be chunked. I have always had enough slack in the system for the piece to hit the ground, and slow down the sling, before the sling could hit the lowering device.

For machine feeding a chipper, the minimum size chipper to do so semi-effectively would be a bandit 200. A bandit 250 would be a much better first machine choice for machine feeding, because it a large opening prior to the feed wheels for ease in machine feeding.

Sean, I think that you are asking to much with your crew expectations. You are going to have to ease up on your help, and pick your battles. I used to get so stressed out over people on the job site not doing everything my way. If your employees think that you will listen to what they had to say, they will be more open to you telling the key things they need to know, and them hearing it. One of the key benefits to employees working for smaller companies is the fact they can have a bit looser of a work environment. Stress safety and make sure everyone knows that you are in charge in the tree, but ease up on some of the micro managing for your own good. Thanks Sep

I also think climbing by yourself is an unsafe work practice. We also don't send out a bucket truck with less then 2 men. I wouldn't send anyone else to climb by themselves, so why would I do it myself. Sometimes the customer needs to pay for our ground guy on these jobs were there isn't much work for them, but people cut corners to save the consumer money and this only makes it harder for all of us to get the prices we should on these jobs.

Your liability insurance will go up, after being in business for a while. The rate is partially based on your business's gross income. So the more work you do the more exposure the insurance company has to liability. The rate also will go up or down based on your claim history.
