Few from last week, 90ish foot pine and smaller oak with back lean overprimaries Not sure what the actual mech advantage was, but pulled both of em over without breaking a sweat. My little cmi pulleys were ok, anyone have a suggestion for a good set of 4s/ double pulleys fir bigger pulls?

There's some pretty fascinating research going on right now regarding psychadelic mushrooms. Many positive results, including success in treating nicotine and alcohol addiction, depression, and anxiety.

Man, Stig... Some huge son of a Beaches! Raddest pics. I wanna learn to cut like you guys, cause the saws gobble wood so hard when yer runnin the tiny little bars with full house chain like you guys do. Super fun to cut that way, I just suck at it. Rich: Rad pics. This is the coolest thread.

No, you're right... with that particular tree, yeah, definitely, a guy could just as easily leave his line, BUT: 1) Ya really shouldn't just leave yer climb line. (I've gotta climb line that a friend gave me that is all beat up on one end (he's a rope-bag guy) from him pulling over stems onto the blacktop. :|:... as a result: I've always gotta use the other end to climb off if I wanna feel pretty safe. :|: 2) Therefore: Ya gotta ask fer another line. Takes time. Also: 3) Ya gotta have a dude come over just to jerk on the line. Takes time. PLUS: 4) Ya tend to wast a ton of time (as somebody already pointed out) pinching lines into the dirt, and fussing around with the log to get yer line out so ya don't cut it, and just generally being a dummy when ya could have just banged er over. A guy should always have an axe and wedge on him anyways.

Yeah... See... internet deficiencies can be a good thing! Think of how you folks can thank your lucky stars that the longest possible vid that I could EVER have the patience to post, is about 3.5 mins. Sean: Duh! Waiting to tie the rope would have made too much sense!:|: Dude. I think I was just too lazy to take the slack out via a trucker's hitch, and I knew that the slack would still not allow it to hit the fence. :|::|::|::|::|::|::|: :|: Sean Ruel: Wazzz up MAN!!!

Dude, if you came out here to do work, you'd figure it out really quick. Waist deep ferns, waist deep Sollal, waist deep Oregon Grape, I don't even wanna talk about Black Berry, Stinging Nettle and Devil's Club. Out here, bean bags are generally for little kids. I personally think they have their place, but I know tree guys who wouldn't be caught dead with one on their truck. And yes, as Sean already mentioned... out here, barber chairs get people. I know of a guy who was seriously maimed by one. No one would leave too fat of a hinge here. I have fallen 160' trees here in residential settings. Here, if a guy leaves too fat of a hinge (I don't care what kind of saw he's runnin) on even a slight head-leaner, and gust of wind hits the top... he might have a heck of a time sharing the barber-chair vid with his East Coast buddies, I don't care HOW fast his internet is.

Daniel: Thank you. Rope setting just takes longer. You're probably right, I think that I do tend to overrate hinge-thickness a bit too much, but I would strongly disagree if you insisted that I didn't matter at all. Frankie: No. If I understand you, then I'd like to point out that the leverage that the wedge provides, while it can serve to help lift a side-leaner on the low side, has absolutey NO effect on the holding wood once one has tipped the tree past the Center of Gravity. Thanks for the response, though.

Yeah, REALLY new. Jake's got a ton of time on it already, but, if you can believe it, that was Davin's (the guy in the vid) first time on it. The thing is just so intuitive, non turf destructive, light yet powerful. All of us are over the moon for it. Super low COG on that pig. Mr. Beranek/Gary/Mick: Thanks!! Mellow: Yeah, I know... I always cringe to see that powdery dirt on an oily chain, but I always give er a buncha squirts before I throw it into the wood. Yeah, the gopro's weird. The house was actually way too close to put the stick that way. Sean: I think I follow you. I usually use my 372, and that 95 is really a bit heavy for me, mostly because I'm just really not used to it. I'm usually pretty cognizant of where my hands are at on the bars, but to no effect... I usually STILL end up sloping stuff way down hill. I think I did much better in the vid, cause I knew everybody was watchin'.:|:

So this"ll probly irritate you guys like nobody's business... I have TERRIBLE internet connectivity out here in Snoqualmie. The GoPro doesn't like me. I have SERIOUS uploading issues. It looks like Butch and Corey's preferred Jed-lenght video is gonna win out, since I can't hardly upload anything longer than a minute out here.:|::lol::violent1::|::lol: Anyways........... this next tree has to go in, like, three seperate installments. :|::violent1: https://youtu.be/VRcZlvgT3-g

:lol: Sean: Same here. Corey: Sure, Corey... ladder rung type trees... most of us older guys just free climb those with pleasure for pruning-type applications, but (somehow I'm sure you already know this.) never for removal stuff. Just seems to always make more sense to just torch all of the limbs off while ascending on spurs till you're high enough to take a top with reasonable fence-safety. :|: Not yet a perfected science. That one was about 80' Rajan. Gary: Thanks, no, the wedge got er'. ;) Marc Antoine: I see your point, but you should know that I never let the ground-guys under when I get to that part. When ascending, the axe is stuffed into a goofy utility loop that doesn't let it in or out redily, which is why I have to weld a steel loop on the top of it for a biner. Stephen/Corey: Hemlocks can be tedious to climb. The branches can be incredibly tight-spaced for a Puget Sound tree, and the branch collars are amazingly tough. Those collars put up more of a fight against a top-handle than even Fir. A guy doesn't wanna go any further than he has to.

Daniel: Sorry bud. Point taken. I DID, however, make a positive reference to you in a vid, that I made today, that I intend to post this weekend, on the "Level Stumps on Steep Ground," thread. I was just indicatating that I admired your aloofness from the castigating tendancies of others to denounce us wood geeks as, "Much Ado About Nothing," type of folk.

I haven't had to share any so far Corey, since Jakes' footage is leading the charge. They're trying to solicit the attentions of some TV show producers, and are (I'm told) meeting with some success. :fart2: Sure, we fly the bucket for powerlines, com-lines and hedges, and stuff.

I would gladly apologize to Marc Antione for this next video. It is basically nothing. I have realized that all I really like about video is it's partial ability to display what is happening in the wood when a given man, be he Jed or Daniel Murphy (who are almost the exact same person, if we're honest) puts a cut in it. It's not OUR FAULT that Gerry, Butch, Corey and Graeme, cut all of the decent trees down before any of us decent folk could get our greedy little hands on it!!! https://youtu.be/xHfmWDh8sjI

Has it occured to anyone else reading this thread, that all of us climber/faller types tend to have a rather serious gambling addiction? I'll never look the same way again at the folks up the hill from me at the Indian Casino.
