If you grab it by the tail and use that, 60 feet isn’t to hard!

Had a real fun day with an ice and snow covered lightning struck elm. It was struck over a year ago and was pretty crispy. It actually went real good. Jimmy was spot on with his roping skills allowing me to take nice sized sections without worry of breaking out the rigging points. Had a hot tempered moment while moving the logs though. I heard the flagger swearing through the comms and saw a car damn near run him over. He bounced the paddle off of her wind shield. I tossed a 14’ by 24” diameter log into the road and Jimmy put a cone into her windshield as she screached to a halt. As soon as I jumped out of the loader she started yelling that she was calling the police. I said thanks for saving me the trouble and set up a zone around the scene. She got a free ride to the police station and her vehicle towed. Man am I glad that our zone was set up properly and I called it in to the county plus the local PD the day before. Oh what fun. We all had to give a quick statement which we recorded and sent to the company office for the lawyers. I’m sure this entitled bitch is gonna try to sue. Anyhow, I was home in time to cook dinner and am enjoying family time.

Still liking the 255xp Cory. Really can’t complain about it at all. The winch line doesn’t need to be stowed to run the rollers. It has a selector lever for the hydraulics though. Can’t run them both at the same time.

The tether is aluminum and made by reon rounds. I’m gonna give it a try on the zig zag first. There was some pretty cool stuff. ISC is putting an actual rig-n-wrench out soon.

Not yet. They’re out there though. Our local supplier is a bit upset. He prepaid and still hasn’t recieved his order but crossed paths with someone who was given a pair. I’m supposed to be called when his come in as being first in line to buy. Hope he calls before the expo. If they’re selling them there he will prolly find another brand to sell.

Prolly not nutball. I wear my chaps religiously on the ground. Out of habit now. I’ll be in saw pants before to long I’m sure. I’m dreading it for a few reasons. Summertime heat is one. Another is how they seem to fit. I had to give up wrangler jeans because of causing traffic issues if I was close to a roadway. I agree they will protect me but what about the safety of the general public being distracted by my Pfanner ass? Will OSHA or ANSI pay for the traffic accidents that will undoubtably follow?

I want one. Local saw shop had it on display for years and the retired owner took it with him. It had better be willed to me when he passes. Back to the auction what is the bid at now? Autographed poster people.

After a small amount of searching I figured out basically slightly less than 2k per saw. In my mind that is money well spent on a crew that is around power most of the time. I’m personally entertaining the idea of buying one for my personal truck but really don’t need it

Searching for the boss. He called about them so I’m doing a small amount of questioning. I personally don’t like them either but we do a lot of removals in a city who’s power supplier is about twenty years behind on the five year cycle thing. Waiting for them to do make safe’s is not really an option. Also gas powered is not an option either since they’re non-insulated. I have no idea of what these things cost so I can’t make an offer. I’ll be talking with Scott Brenner tomorrow for Arial rescue training and find out more.

I feel that I could but I think I’ll be buying mine for the time being. It is very easy to splice Amsteel but aren’t crane slings supposed to carry a rating tag on them? I did get away with using rated chokers and adding my own spiderlegs a time or two though.

I love the ideas offered. No one has seen this but you and you know best, but tossing ideas around is a great thing. I find ( and this is no way referring to Reg) that many times we grow accustomed to working a certain way and forget how many ways there are to skin a cat. Did this tonight when asked my opinion from pictures of a bid. I saw a way to go from a tiny drop zone to a big one using a different method than what the estimator is used to. Kinda screwed myself out of an easy crane job (needed 100 ton plus for the radius) but also puts the one day job less than a crane removal in close to the same time frame and beats out the competition by over a day. Anyhow, I love how ideas are shared here
