Thanks for posting the link to the story, Mick. It was an interesting read. I'd be guessing the price is not a mistake. Rarity makes for high prices. Just as with Jerry's hard copy book. Tim

Those kind of rants just need to be a dump...paragraphs be damned. Crappy day for sure with gear getting gone...I kick myself in the butt lots when something like that happens.

Fire bans...wow, get caught burning during a day of total fire ban you are in trouble here. Permit season starts once indicators hit marks, you can still burn but need a permit and register it, no charge. Permit officer determines conditions, what time you can light it etc. They can put an embargo on further permits at any time if the fire danger increases, that just means no new light ups until conditions ease. You can have a 1m cubed fire with no permit but you are urged to register it to prevent unnecessary call-outs. If fire danger hits the high indicators they declare a day or however long is necessary of total fire ban. No fires, no outdoor wood bbqs, no mowing, welding, slashing... Farmers have a matrix they refer to that allows them to continue harvesting during a total fire ban until a certain confluence of temperature humidity and wind is met, then they stop. I think we had about 10 days of total fire ban this season, permits are still on in our region...its still dry.

When my tree trailer is plugged into the house with shore power I have run a string from the shore power cord to the handle of the truck...mostly when I was first getting used to using a shore power setup. It was so that I couldn't open the truck door without realizing I was still plugged into the house...hate to pull the house down the driveway with the power cord.:D

My BIL was a naval sub Lt. Commander. He told me some about it...critical systems are tagged and locked so that someone cannot (theoretically) operate related systems and cause safety issues. We sometimes find that on job sites where we have raw wires outside a circuit box before they get hooked up to x-ray equipment. The installing electrician puts a bolt thru the handle that energizes the circuit so that someone has to intentionally work to turn the circuit on...does not just take a casual flip of a switch to possibly electrocute someone. Butch or Kyle can probably explain it better.

Good pictorial guide for rope wear. Thanks, Kenny. I learned rock climbing from the army Rangers as part of a survival course when I was 16. One week on the mountain with them running the show. They were rabidly nuts about stepping on ropes and getting the ropes dirty. We used stranded gold line rope which is three strand. All mistakes were punished with immediate push-ups. If you were on the ground....lucky. If you wer 50 feet up on a rock face do them anyway. Always feet uphill no matter where you were. Some of my push-ups were done 50 feet up like a handstand looking down the mountain.

@Cut4Fun; Thanks a lot! It is greatly appreciated! Tim Edit: I went to the website for the link, and as of yet there is no mention of this Echo chainsaw sale. He might only be promoting it on FB for some reason. If people are interested, it might be necessary to call or e-mail them to find out if the sale prices are available to the general public. Thanks again to Cut4Fun for the efforts. Tim
