Quite so B. I remember standing in the slips and the ball flying off the edge of the bat and heading towards my face like a cannonball, I was pleased that was able to save my own life by removing my face from the trajectory, only to be met with disapproval by my teammates for not catching it!

http://www.charentelibre.fr/2019/01/19/une-dizaine-de-sangliers-traversent-les-rues-de-montbron,3374761.php Recent article in the local paper, a family of wild boar took a wrong turn and ended up running around my nearest small town, eventually they found their way out to the countryside. People know better than to interfere with them when theyíre scared, left them to it.

It’s a pita when health (or lack thereof) becomes the main focus of your life, I’m sorry for your friend, and hope your illness is fleeting. Back in the Uk for the last week in January for the funeral of an old family friend, out of respect really, not my loss, don’t worry. He was 76, relatively healthy, but was ill for two weeks with (what turned out to be) pneumonia, massive heart attack did for him. His son (my BIL) regrets that a trip to the doctor could have bought another ten years of family life with him and his grandchildren. No real point to this post I suppose.

I know, it took years to really appreciate its stupidities and beautiful complexities. Recent technological innovations regarding cameras and umpire decisions have improved the viewing experience. Only Bermy on here has any appreciation of it (afaik) other SDs (shackle draggers aka Australians) on here may say otherwise.

I love it. Played a little at a very low standard after retiring from football, gave me an appreciation of the skills. Like baseball I guess, it’s an acquired taste.

Client: Hi Robert, I hear you do tree work, got some leaning towards our house, think you can take them out safely for us? Robert: Sure I can, I’m fairly sure there won’t be a repeat of the power line incident, I’ll come along and take some photos. Client: Okaaay, why do you need to take photos? Robert: I will need to ask some guys on the internet how to do it. Client: (turns to wife) you see honey? I told you we’d picked the right guy!

Being a barman is a great exercise is understanding the human experience. Not listening to their problems, fuck all that shit, tell it to the dog, I don’t care. Just seeing people at their worst and best, just standing there sober and watching people unravel as the evening develops.

I suspect the program makers encouraged it to create drama. Reminds me of the time in Axmen when someone called for a saw down in a valley to be sent down on the wire thingy, the camera made a big show of attaching it and I saw it was an old wanked 076 or similar, sure as shit it dropped and smashed into a hundred pieces, cue howls of fake rage from the cutter below. That’s when I stopped watching.

You know there is a middle ground between drunken arseholery and stone cold sobriety? As you get older you can refine your technique and enjoy a drink without social disgrace. I feel that too many (especially Yanks from what I read on here) give up too early in the learning process without really trying.

I’m ok at the moment, I try to take steps to lengthen my climbing life. Loader, so less heavy lifting, better chipper so less effort getting the stuff processed and putting a few extra quid on a job to pay for another pair of hands, just got the little Echo for my wrists which is a tiny little gem if a saw. My back is good recently, but I’m very careful with it. Just got to get to 60 I reckon....

Friday nights! I used to get butterflies in my stomach from Friday lunchtime onwards, pretty much always got hammered. Used to curb it a bit when I was playing football Saturday afternoon, but after football we’d hit it hard! Oh well, Monday morning here we come..
