I will say this to further add to what Burnham said .Having a number of saws and other internal combustion engines many sit unused for months at a time .After which they aren't quite on their pace for a little while after long rest .They do perk up after a little run time, usually .If not you have to work on them .Been there ,often .

I've got some that date back to 1956 but then again I'm a collector .Most of Toms on the other hand usually die from abuse .Those 10-12 dollar an hour guys really aren't saw operators .He did like B and stock piled 200T's a local dealer saves for him .He gets them usually for 250 300 a pop .He might have 6-8 of them . One of Toms saws an 038 Magnum had over 20 years of hard service that be bought used .It grenaded a piston,I rebuilt the saw and he must have ran it another 5 until it got replaced with a 440 .I now own that saw and I'd bet it runs as good today as the day it came off the assembley line if not better .One tough old saw .

Larry Steiner has an 090 ,last one sold from Canada that he got from John Lambert .It's never had gas in the tank .I have a picture of it on one of my hard drives.

Regarding those large displacement saws I've amassed first keep in mind I'm a collector and restorer .If I use them or just set them on a shelf doesn't make the much difference .If I made a living with a saw ,which I don't it might . In my little world just basically cutting dead trees or nuisance hazard trees it comes down to three ,all Stihl ,200T ,024 and 038 Magnum .All enhanced to some degree .They would be all I would ever need were it not for the interest of collection and restoration .Which I might add is not for everybody ,just us nut cases .

I just collect them,I'm odd that way --Stihl 084,2 Mac 125's ,1 Mac105 , the Homelite 2100S in the avatar picture .They'd most likely start up .If not it's just a carb refresh,no big deal .In addition to the Husqvarna 2100 I have two other 100 CC saws, Partner P100/McCulloch SP 1000 which are the same saw .One runs but needs piston rings and the other needs about every thing .Rings, bearings, seals etc .It was frozen solid when I got it .Not to worry I've got more tricks than a barrel full of monkeys on this stuff and it's unstuck and apart .Too damned cold to get excited about working on it at this time of the year .

I've got 5 saws over 100 cc that just collect dust sitting in the shed .It's so seldom in Ohio you find a tree over 3 feet in diameter they really aren't needed .For the 3 footers I've got a Stock 2100 Husqvarna and a souped up Stihl 038 magnum that do real well with 32" bars .

John was up at 4:30 to see it. He said no red though. Any idea how long the red was supposed to last?
