Totally messed up. That is a business that I didn't know existed. They are duping people about body donation to science.

Same here. I have handled many customer calls in a tree. Makes for a break sometimes. Blue tooth keeps the hands free...never actually hold the phone. I have been working solo before and had an open line with Alex during a critical cut. Top goes good, sign off, carry on.

I prefer to send mine down. That way I can badger the guy on the ground after I get oil down my leg.

Well, it would probably have lasted way longer had the kids and Katy not run it dry repetitively for hours at a time over three years. The fact it took the abuse for that many impresses me.

Rendering vids is very time consuming after the job. I have so much going on in my life, it is hard to do any of it. I think my family is ok with the GoPro breaking. They miss some of the vids though. Kids kind of liked seeing the footage. But they need dad time too.

Yeah, red lion rocks. The family has run that damn pump dry sooooooo many times and it lasted about 3 years. This will be my 3rd one due to the same abuse. Kids filling troughs and Katy too. Robs has lasted almost 10 years now.

Well, been a busy one here. Finally buttoned up the 4x4 that started leaking tranny fluid. Cooler line broke and I broke the cooler trying to put in a new line. Ordered a new betterer cooler and made the brackets to locate it more sensibly on the passangers side with a gap between it and the condenser. Last owner strapped it to the condenser and the hose clamps rubbed it bad. Finally got the pressure pump I ordered installed this last week. Sponge baths for a week when that broke. No water pressure in the house from the tank. Not reccommended.. Just a trickle from gravity. Robs truck broke something, digging in on that. Finally got the right o rings for the John Deere trans filter. Damn that sux to get in right. Freezer helped, but I bought like ten of the buggers as I destroyed 3 before that. Now I have to order upgrade brakes for the 4x4. It just ate another set of rotors. Da.nDa.n all the weight we shuffle on the hills we do. Love trying to stop a 7500# plus chipper with a moth 1k in the bed on an 8% grades coming into town behind tourist traffic.

Only a couple times. Mine got smashed in the back of the truck not long after I bought them. People that don't pay for stuff sure GAS about it.

Once the kids grow up, we'll have more, and the property will be paid for. Then I can slow down and do more cash.

Spider lift with about a 90 foot reach would be great, a 75 would also work. Just hard to pay for. The one guy with a bucket truck up here, chose to refinance his house to buy it, giving him more time and a better rate to pay it off with. It hardly pays for itself. Just allows him work to keep bills paid so to speak. Limited by access and terrain. Trouble is being able to charge enough. Fixed income is the majority up here. Then a small group of government and utility workers, then large group of low income. When we bid at 250.00 hr for a crew and kit, we are hard pressed to get work. When I had a larger crew. He has to do that daily. Always worrying about work and will constantly low bid stuff when he goes hungry to get work. We flex our bidding according to what comes to the job and get more work, but don't suffer the low bidding issue. Granted, my stuff is paid for and paid for itself when demand was high. Demand is lower now. When I break it all down, I can't afford another mortgage payment. Nor am I able to charge for one.

Does not take long to get out of shape with what we do. Excellent catch on the beech. We have that happen a lot with our hazard trees here near the ROW. Had one that was marked that they lost record of, right next to the house. HO called them over and over. Then called us scared watching the death wobble in the wind. Thank the gods there was another tree 15 feet away to tie into.

That's some ugly right there. We have been taking down some hazard dead Sugar pines in a limb locked stand. Steep terrain.. No time for pictures. my favorite work. Nerve wracking quite honestly. Beating the frig out of wedges. Then moved down the street to remove a black walnut in a tight spot training a new guy. Much more fun. Regardless of the challenge.

my problem with editing my vids.... I do a lot of little clips. But I am not a good story teller. And as I edit, I see so much stuff I like, I keep it. Then I look at time on the finished product... Nope, no song gonna fit it...

Still love mine. If you need to gas and oil it up in the tree, get a couple of those little stainless steel drinking flasks, from like REI or someplace, that have the place for a crab on the top screw in cap. Hangs off saddle. Not necessary with my crew. just lower and refill. Not like it weighs a lot to haul back up.

  1. Yeah, thanks....we can all learn something if we are open to it. Brian has issues, I reckon...I'll just let him stew and work out his own way to be involved.

I enjoy your posts...glad to have you at the House.
