Those kind of rants just need to be a dump...paragraphs be damned. Crappy day for sure with gear getting gone...I kick myself in the butt lots when something like that happens.

When my tree trailer is plugged into the house with shore power I have run a string from the shore power cord to the handle of the truck...mostly when I was first getting used to using a shore power setup. It was so that I couldn't open the truck door without realizing I was still plugged into the house...hate to pull the house down the driveway with the power cord.:D

My BIL was a naval sub Lt. Commander. He told me some about it...critical systems are tagged and locked so that someone cannot (theoretically) operate related systems and cause safety issues. We sometimes find that on job sites where we have raw wires outside a circuit box before they get hooked up to x-ray equipment. The installing electrician puts a bolt thru the handle that energizes the circuit so that someone has to intentionally work to turn the circuit on...does not just take a casual flip of a switch to possibly electrocute someone. Butch or Kyle can probably explain it better.

Good pictorial guide for rope wear. Thanks, Kenny. I learned rock climbing from the army Rangers as part of a survival course when I was 16. One week on the mountain with them running the show. They were rabidly nuts about stepping on ropes and getting the ropes dirty. We used stranded gold line rope which is three strand. All mistakes were punished with immediate push-ups. If you were on the ground....lucky. If you wer 50 feet up on a rock face do them anyway. Always feet uphill no matter where you were. Some of my push-ups were done 50 feet up like a handstand looking down the mountain.

Cottonwood speedline was a pleasure to watch...I like the way you talk to Youtube...even toasted us! Serious wind...cool noise! And the drone stability in that wind was mindboggling...cool. Great drone shots.

Deva....we did our biggest bid a few years ago for an x-ray system for a county health dept. We sell and service x-ray equipment. I think the bid document was 80 pages....massively crazy stuff about our policies for hiring, who we would or would not hire, our relationships with any criminals, I can't remember how many times I said WTF during getting it ready. HUGE amount of work. The wording of the bid was convoluted...they asked for things that didn't even exist...a lackey somewhere that did not understand the systems involved put the RFQ together. I attended the bidder's meeting where about 5 of us competitors met with the county to try to thrash out reality. It was a bit of a Charlie Foxtrot for awhile. We were not the lowest bidder but got it anyway...they apparently threw out the lowest bidder and highest and then had the staff decide who was left that they trusted. I hope your reputation is a consideration because I am sure you do responsible, dependable top notch work. Good luck on this.

  1. Yeah, thanks....we can all learn something if we are open to it. Brian has issues, I reckon...I'll just let him stew and work out his own way to be involved.

I enjoy your posts...glad to have you at the House.
