Man, internet connectivity is a rough go when you live out in the tule berries... the company's gopo has just set in the truck lately, cause I can't get stuff to upload. Here's a cottonwood stem that I felled for another foreman (in vid) on a super gusty day. I was told that all the fruit trees HAD to save out.https://youtu.be/vIUuA2-sIbc Talk about a lucky shot:lol:... man... it was like I got a micro-calm out of the wind right as the back cut went home. :|:

I know dude, it's like they're trying to force all the little gypos out, while meanwhile... Weyerhauser couldn't care less... they're fine to just sit on their vast expanses of timber lands untill the market shifts around.

Civility? We don't have that in the PNW. Seems awfully weird. :/:

That's a fascinating question I've no answer for. Best guess is high concentration of acids reacting with leather, though not sure why it would bleach

Processed 106 chickens today, had six people working and everything went smoothly, done in 5.5hrs. 30 are mine, sp I've got my chicken for the year in the freezer. That's a good feeling to me

That was pretty cool Daniel, thanks. That's weird, I noticed that with the racket-ball racket when I was a little kid, but I just thought that I was unwittingly imparting a tiny spin on the thing that was making it flip.

I thought this was going to be about language drift and how an apron was originally called a napron . Over time the word settled to it's modern version. Same story with uncle, originally nuncle.

There's some pretty fascinating research going on right now regarding psychadelic mushrooms. Many positive results, including success in treating nicotine and alcohol addiction, depression, and anxiety.

Shoot... I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't read the whole thread, but has anyone suggested a psilocybin trip yet?

No, you're right... with that particular tree, yeah, definitely, a guy could just as easily leave his line, BUT: 1) Ya really shouldn't just leave yer climb line. (I've gotta climb line that a friend gave me that is all beat up on one end (he's a rope-bag guy) from him pulling over stems onto the blacktop. :|:... as a result: I've always gotta use the other end to climb off if I wanna feel pretty safe. :|: 2) Therefore: Ya gotta ask fer another line. Takes time. Also: 3) Ya gotta have a dude come over just to jerk on the line. Takes time. PLUS: 4) Ya tend to wast a ton of time (as somebody already pointed out) pinching lines into the dirt, and fussing around with the log to get yer line out so ya don't cut it, and just generally being a dummy when ya could have just banged er over. A guy should always have an axe and wedge on him anyways.

  1. Oh.... Thanks then Steve. That was a bewildering weekend for me for other reasons. I apologize for spacing-out. Any chance you'll make it to Zip-fest? We plan to go.
  2. Nope, not me Jed. I met you at the get together at Indian Henry.
  3. Pete:

I grew up in the Midwest, (Minnesota, South Dakota) but we (my wife and nine-year-old daughter) live in the East Puget Sound area in Issaquah, WA--near Seattle. Cool place. Rains incessantly nine months of the year, but grows really beautiful, tall, straight-grained Firs.
  4. Idaho is great. Lots to do for someone who lives outside. Where abouts are you from Jed?
  5. Hey... does anyone out there ever have troubles with gunning sights giving inaccurate reads? What do you do? (Stihl MS 440, 32")
