Why is the truck wiggling??? Hahaha.... That's one thing I've never had to ask. Cuz I've never used anything with Outriggers. Had to be freaky. Unexpected movement can be a bitch. I was once on a high step ladder which was on top of a sheet of plywood which was on top of the pews of a church. It was the only way we had at the time to reach the chandeliers to change light bulbs. Me being young agile and probably dumb ended up being the one going up the ladder to change the freaking bulbs. The system was pretty stable so I couldn't understand what was wrong but as I touched the chandelier it was like I was fixing to fall.. That's when I realized that the chandelier had moved slightly very slightly and that unexpected movement really played with my head.

I just downloaded the app. It is pretty interesting. I have friends in countries such as Burma Myanmar that surely have hard to find villages in ethnic areas. This is an interesting concept. I'm currently sitting here at unlit.discontent.brew burning off a pile of trash at our farm.

Yep...that ferry video was disturbing. There was some panic there I am sure while they tried to figure out what to do. Pretty sure I saw a passenger's arm in the windshield.

A family got attacked by a wolf in a Canadian park....1AM, came in their tent. Another fellow heard the screams and comes to their aid...actually breaks up the attack. Hoorah....hero stuff. Then makes comment he regrets "kicking the wolf"....help me understand the mentality of regretting kicking a wolf to save people????? .....The wolf was starting to drag Matthew away when a neighboring camper, Russ Fee, heard the family's screams and jumped in to help. "The screams were so intense that I knew it was obviously a terrible situation," Fee told CNN affiliate CBC. "So I just kind of kept running at , and I just kicked it sort of in the back hip area." Fee said he immediately regretted kicking the wolf, but it did make the animal release Matthew and pop out of the tent. Matthew soon followed, and the two started screaming and throwing rocks at it...... https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/14/us/wolf-attack-canada-trnd/index.html

That was just smooth and fun to watch! "move the house"..."just go away" I caught 11 flying squirrels in my attic over the course of a winter in the 90's. Took them to the nearby State park and released them at a big oak with a good hollow. It was always fun to watch them skedaddle up the tree and sail...magic carpet ride...like August just showed. Once I had just finished an oak takedown right at dark. The lady of the house came out on the porch to see how we were doing. A flying squirrel bombed out of the tree and landed in her big bouffant style hair (think Marge on Simpsons)...quite the hoedown while she sorted out what was hair and what was squirrel. Gawd, it was so hard not to fall out laughing. Great footage you got, August. Loved the Thug Life scene.

EXCEPT....when I worked for the one true tree company I ever worked for....early 70's...they had me chunking trees from about 30-40 feet up...directly into the bed of the dump...made a great boom when they hit that metal bottom. Looking back I think they were crazy...I just did what I was told.:D

Thanks for input Kenny...roundturn is good and no-creep limiters, too. Had not thought of wind funneling but good advice. I would definitely vacate the car/lift area before letting them lift. Too many variables to ride with car. Marc-Antoine...my hope is to be able to do it without deploying the boat...If the boat is there I'd have the boat captain do his thing like in the video...he's a good driver, able to stabilize as needed.

Gigi...you ARE an Island Girl. Tides in our Chattahoochee?? hahaha...no worries there...constant flow, whatever it happens to be due to rainfall upstream. Re: fire ladder truck...good question there...I did wonder about that, too. I have seen them use them horizontal to recover a body that was in a dump truck that ran into a retention pond. They called us on a Dec. night to recover the man but the FF's had their ladder extended and had just retrieved him when we got there. My son is a FF...they are starting to check into buying a ladder truck for their city. I'll see what he can tell me about working off a horizontal ladder and how they are rated for that. Re: SRT...I can see where it would be "cleaner" with rope deployment. The few times I did it the body positioning (no chest harness) was a problem. And I didn't have a Haas type leg device, just my one Pantin. I just haven't pushed on it yet. It'll happen soon.
