Had a nice afternoon at the golf course. lifted 2 Spruce, 2 White Pine, 2 Maples, and an Elm for view, removed a little 4 stemmed birch, then took the tractor w/batwing to do the last mowing at the conservation club next door. Put a few things that might freeze into storage. More mowing to do tomorrow, and some brush pick-up

Wow…sat down to play fiddle about when it got dark…put it down for a break and noticed the news was on…turned the volume up and the lady said “thanks for waking up with us!”…to my surprise it was 430 am! I had sort of planned on working this morning, but might take a nap and go in this afternoon instead.

I had Pandora for about a year...I was severely disappointed and found it lacking in depth and variety.

sheesh...tooo touchy...:P the "helping along" of anything like this immigrant deal is as plausible to be caused by one of this countries extremist major parties as it is by the other to gain something for their side or to make the opposition look bad. I simply pointed out another possibility. It fits great with a reason to bolster funding to build "the wall" eh? Why did Trump say Congress would be involved? Because he wants the rest of the money for completion of the wall that they didn't allocate in the last budget? It also fits with the need of a real crisis close to home as the election is coming and statistically a "crisis" of this type tends to favour incumbents...Seems a lot less far fetched than the Presidents version of his opposition forming and supporting an army of immigrants from a few thousand miles away to walk until they can storm the border...all just to thwart him and his policy. There is also the possibility that no one here is behind any of it...Which I tend to favour...but that wouldn't fit with the conspiracy radio stories that have been broadcast for the last week or so would it... Just for the record, I'm for not letting anyone enter this country without a complete vetting process completed first and a damn good reason to be here. Hell, this might be the first time in a long time that our military gets deployed for a legitimate use...defense...

closed up the golf course for the season today...took down signs, picked up & stored waste baskets, ball washers, and several little odds & ends. Started to get rained on & called it a day...just a couple more mowings left and done for the year.

I can stream here and use skype via my cable or home wifi. I have run skype a lot here at home in the past. My question is more on recommendations for a tablet that would work with that particular software and what might be the best way to go service wise with it...I was hoping to find someone with some experience with this, but seem to have struck out on 3 different forums.

does anyone here run skype on a tablet or have suggestions on what to get to do it? My situation: computers have aged beyond support and are too expensive to replace with new, so I'm considering alternatives. Smart phones are too small by far, for what I intend to use Skype for. Using skype is the only reason I need a new device. I need the capacity to save the calls (at leat to a thumbdrive). Will Wifi work as well as cable on video calling? Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.

Stig, you are so right about the number of parties. I've read more than one study that showed the longevity of party systems is less than those with a higher number of political parties. The US today is an excellent example of some of the downfalls of a two party system that is designed to keep other parties from ever gaining a foothold on power. Evidently our congress has paid out ~17m of taxpayer money in the last 10 years or so as hush money to shut up accusers of congressmen...

Cory, Not really...he was busy rehearsing his opening statement. His performance was what was important to him... Going to be lots of unhappy folks on one side or the other whether he is confirmed or not. I think it would be a bad move to confirm him, just by his performance at the hearing, but the midterm elections are looming and I've a feeling the republicans will ram him through out of fear of having to come up with a candidate more acceptable to the opposing party (not on the "Federalist" list).

Yes I sat through it all...wasn't enjoyable or easy It was grueling to say the least...never...ever, have I been more disgusted when observing our elected representatives...and that goes for all of them! It was very disappointing...but did give some insight into a very partisan candidate for a judgeship. His open disrespect for the panel, and whining outbursts that had nothing to do with what he was asked was astounding.

I believe they actually denied memory of the party...not that it ever happened...big difference. The lack of witnesses could easily be from fear of retribution...very rich, connected & powerful man, and selected by a very vengeful, rich, powerful person. Very easy to get tons of favourable letters of support for a person of his stature & money. She had many too, but is also not without means & support... I watched both entire testimonies. If this was a hatchet job it was a pretty good one... Great strategy by the majority party to use a Prosecutor to question her...just by word association it made her look like a defendant. The most I got from it was that he doesn't have the emotional reserve to be a Justice on the Supreme Court...but I'm betting he will be after the dog & pony show is over. I seriously think he snorted something before his testimony...He came out raging, red faced, constantly sniffing, and very articulate...coming down, as the day wore on, he was more calm but highly frustrated & disrespectful...his answers became less mindful, many times having answers that had no relevance to the questions...this with having ~Two weeks to prepare for testifying. Going to be an interesting Midterm...
