... has to be damn inconvenient , but accidentally burning a whole valley and killing eighty five people isn't very cool either. What's a Power Company to do ? Seems alot of customers are down and it can't be easy. I call my generator "Baghdad Electric" , if I have fuel I can run my whole house no problem even if the "neighbors" hate the noise. What can you do in , say downtown Oakland ?

... call me old and opinionated but it's probably one of the more stupid ideas out there.Google Treeline Helicopters and videos come right up , they swing a ridiculous gang saw for their fantastic results. Neva heard of such a thing but it popped up on a Snowmaker FB page as I guess they use the ski area parking lots for staging. Looks like Corporate saves money by doing something that will only cause future issues the way Trees tend to grow in after such hacking..Maybe I'm wrong and am missing something .

My small Morbark is Diesel ... Have rented and run many before buying. Diesel is more powerful fuel to start with plus more economical use of said fuel. Best Gas engines on Chippers are generally much more thirsty. Just my opinion.

If direction doesn't matter , size up the easiest lay. Lean is the obvious factor but getting a dead top through the other standing tops.

... Ha , I'm a Luddite , plus it's years ago. I think the Chippercide attempt might have been Minn. Incident that tore me off the thread every day was fatal in Conn. State job , Climber in an Oak pushed a chunk off the stem into the hole , which wasn't clear at the time. Struck and killed the Groundworker instantly ! . Geez , we talked about it all Summer , if I EVER kilt someone I would Neva climb again.

Well Kudos to his Wife at least for trying to help you , both of you know he's got a problem. (I suppose I'd take the DeWalt and forget the Cash as well considering)

This thread has value and I probably will check it from time to time. For years on TB I checked a similar thread daily ... I always thought it helped me to stay aware. Eventually I quit doing it as I figure I'm well aware of the dangers and don't need bad juju in my head. My two favorites were the the large Tree in Atlanta that failed wholesale , onto the poor bastard putting in a price as he was sizing up the work. Killed him , Neva even bid the job. Other was the Tree Co. working roadside with full designated work area defined with Cones etc. , Some poor Schmo walking by with apparent mental problems decides to jump into the Feed Chute ! (My guess is Girlfriend problem) ... They shut it down and he survived.

... If the Fire Dept. is always there why not deploy and decsend off one of their Truck Mount Ladders ... Could be solution for liability as F.D. could consider it rescue access and the Wrecker would only be liable for wreck recovery. Just a thought.
