"friends and family rate" necessary part of my life (extends to all my neighbors on this Mt. as well ... Working close to home is good). Yes cheap , but I figure long run with very few exceptions it comes back plus to me somehow. Other jobs , ect. , sometimes their neighbors will pay full rate.

Was going to say same thing , not completely sure but very few places in New England get no Poplars (true weed trees , though they do have their place in Forest ecology). We have two here , Populus Tremuloides and Populas Alba. The latter had me in the guide book w a leaf after work.

Micheal J Fox said in an interview that the reason he loved doing Match Game on TV is "The Idiots Don't Win" ... How I feel about Jeopardy ... Takes smarts to win for sure.

It's one of the few shows I miss since quitting the TV , the SNL parodies are crazy funny too.

On the half inch and belows the one touch I like is shoving the taped cut end through a ceramic fence post insulator , then torch. Makes a small hard tight end seal , almost as good as whipping.

Vermins ... Had to hard pipe my gas grill from the house supply all the way through. Rodent damage to the flexible lines repeated. Even chewed the stainless braided cover stuff.

I was a Snowmaker for Ten Winters , most of the crew actually smoked pot on the clock , we never had the issues you have described. Of course we had people that sucked at hard work and either quit or got fired. No Fenke Fenke is how I roll.

Pretty much what happened. With a nod to Gerry we sometimes use a Binder around certain material for the obvious reasons and always willing to take any and all steps (within reason) to increase margin of safety and success managing the work. Most of the time it's just a precaution and doesn't necessarily come into heavy play. Yesterday we fell a hollow old beast just uphill of a house. Trunk displayed several running seams (43" DBH , 100' H Sugar Maple ,oh yeah completely hollow) I climbed it and removed some large heavy limbs on the back side then rigged it for the pull. We set a chain at 5' (lacking the true tensioners we drove wedges between the bark and chain to make it tight. Sure enough as we were pulling (really only a foot plus out) the splits ran and broke under the tension plus the release of the backcut. Binder chain held the old beast together quite nicely as it went over , SAVE ! Seems it wanted to go in three big pieces.

Crap , we didn't mention Jeppson's book , Companion. Small , probably cheap and easy to find ... has all the basics plus. Companion and Fundamentals are the two important works for sure.
