150t and 462...opposite ends of the spectrum but boy they each are fabulous for the relevant applications.

Yes Deva, he has a battery husky...I haven't heard the end of it from the other employees on the property, how noisy my 150 is  Stephen, I've been doing these trees for 10 years...got that same frame of mind...keeping or creating enough forks for TIPs for the next visit.

Storm pic... I hired another climber, he was in one tree I was in the other, we have to cut out all the salt and wind burned tips from the casuarinas....head them back to the first live twigs or to nodes if the branches were really mullered... This is at a high end property, dead tree tips are not allowed!

Yeah...apparently that is next level stuff...but I might invest, I have a friend who works for the network:/: I mentioned before how getting the power turned off involves lots of money and an electrician to be there for turning off and on...lotta red tape.

It was great, both homeowners watching, put it right where it needed to go. The front and back limbs went first, then that top section down to the join, then a hunka lumpa of the trunk...done by dark.

So Deva...I recently did a similar course in Tassie...I asked whether I could cut trees that were juuuust resting on the plastic coated (cause it's not really insulation) service drop (220v)...answer...no. That sucks because of course people wait till trees are IN the wires before they call! Neither can I cut branches above low or high voltage wires... I can cut trees that are 500mm away from low voltage but I and my tools have to remain 1.2m away... And I can cut trees that are 1.2m from high voltage but I and my tools must be 3m away Also I have to have an accredited spotter present who does nothing but watched me work... How does that compare to what you just learned?

I too like the stein telescopic hook, but I've managed to destroy two of them, pulled them apart where the sections join. Very, very handy to have that wee bit extra reach.

If I had enough light left this evening I would have taken a picture of my avocado stump up at about 10'...it was 'Jed-esque'...haha, thin level and parallel...turned the 6' lump just right to miss the edge of the patio...channelling all my treehouse mentors!

A month on from hurricane Humberto things are beginning to resprout and leaf out...I have almost finished the restoration pruning for my client, the big baygrape has been balanced and thinned, ficus cut back hard, coconuts cleaned up, white cedars reduced, dead tops of fiddlewoods cut out... Took down a tall avocado this evening, looming towards a friend's roof, I pruned it about three years ago and it grew about 10' in some sections..even the new sprouts since the storm were already almost 10" in some spots! Went there after the main job, finished it just on dark... There is still lots of small debris around and lots of broken trees in gardens, but generally the island is looking neat and tidy again, give it another month and you'd hardly know unless you have 'the tree eye' I'm tired now though a month of six day weeks in the heat and humidity...enough already!

A month after hurricane Humberto and the trees and shrubs are all greening up again, other than piles of leaf litter on the roadsides and broken trees in gardens, you'd hardly know a cat 3 went through...almost done here in Bermyland then it's back to spring time in Tassie...

Nice! I am very fortunate that word of mouth works for me for the most part. However I am going to contribute a couple of articles to our local community newspaper, as I live in a rural area that should drum up a bit of extra work.

Got another climber to work with me on the storm damage cleanup, I've been a bucket baby for a week and a half...once the broken stuff was cleared he started on the reductions, in it makes my heart sing to see another arborist use a hand saw and secateurs in a tree!!! He totally gets how the trees need to be done on this property, we think the same way. Back to climbing tomorrow...
