Bermy replied to a thread Stihl MS462 in Chainsaws!
I was using my 462 yesterday, felled a couple of 20" trees the day before, then set about cleaning them up...it was hot (28c ish) and my saw started to run a bit rough then conk out. I wondered if it was trying to reset to the hotter temperatures? After about 20 mins or so it seemed to settle down again. I didn't have the manual with me to check about resetting the carb. However, suffice to say, I picked that saw up in preference to my 260 to limb and buck smallish branches for firewood, it is just so nice to run!

Yes Stig my 462 has the 20" elight bar...they sold it to me with the regular one, so I traded it asap. Bars last me a loong time :)

You might find icetail hitchcord similar to that boat cord, soft and grabby, but already designed with heat resistance. Marc is on the money with his post

I just got a 462...wow! I think the weight is close to my 260 as well. I will probably get an 18" bar for it too, it's fabulous.

All the best going forward Butch, get the ducks in a row now while you have the strength and energy, then if things get tough you can coast knowing important stuff has been done already. Vibes, prayers...all out there for you.

I had a set of climbrights, couldn't get comfy, went back to bashlins and gecko, but either of those for $80 will see someone right to start off with.

Bermy replied to a thread In The News... in Odds and Ends
You are welcome, it's just how I see it from perhaps a wider point of reference. Is there no admission of ANY culpability for the way things are partly due to the sneering self serving rhetoric that emanates from rallies and twitterstorms? Modern politics fosters a 'see it like me' myopia and when the rest of the world intrudes to present the fact that there are others out there who don't see everything through the same mirror darkly, there seems to be an inability to debate in a rational and mature adult manner.

I have pfanner A ventilations, tolerable for heat and humidity thanks to the zip vents in the back, and taking out the gaiters . Put the gaiters back, zip up the vents and add a pair of long johns they are good for winter. I only say tolerable for heat because they were too much for the height of Bermuda summer, the humidity is a killer. My next pair is going to be clogger zero gen2. I'm happy to add long johns underneath for the cold, but need comfort for the hot. These ones are reviewing very well

Kenny's descriptions are loaded with content and experience, I find them much easier to read if you add some missing words at the right places: The I It Was are the most frequently occuring missing words to add that make his wonderful descriptions much easier to read and understand! He obviously puts much time and effort to create these posts, and it's worth the effort to read them! :)

I do one macrocarpa hedge in the village, belongs to my neighbour, I eyeball it...the top is level, but the front face usually ends up following the undulations of the old plank fence in front...rustic.

No wobblies on my truck, must still be within load range. In Bermuda we have a phrase 'Portagee Load'...most of the landscapers are of Portuguese heritage, and mate...they can LOAD a truck!! I learned from the best of them, get in the back with a sharp machete and chop and stomp on everything as it comes up, pile to the boards, then shove branches down the sides as stakes and keep going. Trim it all around the edges when you're done for no overhang, bung a tarp over the top and off to the dump...

Ooookaayy...I have my Isuzu D Max, with additional height side boards...8'6" x 6' x 2', full to the top that's about three yards, give or take, with some logs thrown in and all our tools, plus towing my chipper that is just over a ton, the D Max handles it all just fine. (we do have beefed up aftermarket rear suspension...SAX Suspension) Driving 75kms home fully loaded, at 90-100kms an hr, no problem.

Yep, I've had to become measurement bilingual...but centimeters have disappeared, everying is mills or metres over here! I had a boss once who was American PhD MIT mechanical engineer with a vast grasp of trivia, apparently the US was supposed to start the change to metric in the 1700's, they decided to form a committee to investigate the switch...still investigating I suppose!
