Check on Amazon. Not too bad. About 150.00 and change US$. The SMH10. Guessing that is what you had. Buying pairs saves a little and you have a back up.

when we logged for 7 weeks at a castle on the island Møn last summer, we realized that a lot of the trees around the buildings were in very bad shape. We told the owner, and he has asked us to come down and do away with them. So next week, if I don't show up here, it is because I'm out of range. Even phones don't work too well down there. Should be a fine time, a nice break from logging and I really like the couple who own the castle. I'll try to remember to take some pictures.

Thanks for letting me know. As you know, I have a Pyreneean mix myself and he is such a gentle dog. Until the time comes not to be. Tore the shit out of 2 burglars a few years ago. My " Granddaughter" loves him.

Sean, in my outfit there is no difference between employees and owners when it comes to saws. We all run the best money can buy. Want somebody to make money for you in logging. Give him/her the tools to do so. Apprentices are a different thing. They are notoriously hard on saws, so they get used ones. Which is why, giving our present one a new MS462 was our way of saying that we feel he is doing good.

No Stig. Our Pyrenees would not harm a soul, unless protecting kids or livestock. Funny how people are so leary or frightened of them for their size. But they are just big lovers. It was Daisy. Rot and cattle dog mix that was a rescue. We were seeing signs in her. Trying to work with her and the new pup calmed her down some. But the writing was on the wall. Nipped a walker down on the road.

What is a mid range saw to you, Magnus. Coming from primarily hardwood logging, a 70 cc is mid range to me. Those are the ones we put the hours on. The MS880 will most likely outlast me unless I drop a tree on it. That one hangs in the shop and only comes out when we need some serious grunt. The picture is the last cuts made by the 661, before I drove home and got the 880 out of the shop ( 3 hours drive and well worth it, as we had a bunch of trees like that to fell)

Was it the big sheep dog? I can't remember if she was a Kangal or a Pyreneean. I hope for your sake it was not one of those cases where you feel like the person bitten should be the one put down.

NO WAY I'd drink that shit regularly. It is simply an emergency thing. What happened was that Richard and I did a friday after work winter run down to Munich to pick up a motorcycle for me. Logging in bad weather for 8 hours and then driving about 1100 Km in the dark. The stupidity of youth, right! At age 58. Go figure. I started nodding off and Richard, knowing I can't handle caffeine, suggested I drink a couple of cans of Red Bull. First time I ever tried that stuff. He later told me that we could have switched the headlights off, my eyes were that bright!

2 years of full time logging is a good figure. Last year we cut for 7 months, 8 hours a day. I DON'T work on saws. I can make way better money per hour by running them. When they start to fail, we dump them with no regrets. Compared to the rest of the costs, saws are not expensive. Last year, when we switched from MS441 to MS 462 and turned from MS260 to MS241, we bought 10 saws. But at the same time we used 3000 liter of alkylate fuel at 3.40$ a liter and 600 liters of chain lube at 3.9$ a liter. Add the chains and bars and the saws will seem like a small amount. Normally we don't spend near that much on saws, changing over from two models to new ones brought it up so high. Plus of course the one idiot who had one stolen and parked a large Beech tree on another one.

I keep a can of Mønster energy drink in the truck for when I start nodding off. Since I don't normally drink coffee, so am unaccustomed to caffeine, that'll wake me up, pronto! After we switched our modus operandi to " Has chainsaw, will travel!", I typically spend 2½ hours on the road, every day.

Exactly. Just can't take the risk. Some dogs are just a liability. Definitely sux for wife and kids though. Just added stress for me. Booked through April and can't move on squat. Just on call getting house foundered and pinching pennies. Trouble with my environment is that it rarely freezes. All we have is slushy snow on red clay muddymuck. Heavy work, on hold till we can move equipment in and out. Bleagh

Hope it works out for her and your family Brett. 5 days of snow and rain. Started my day with my CCW renewal class in snowing cold. Instructor reminded us, it could be worse, like in Milwaukee. Came home and had to surrender a family dog to animal control for a biting incident. She'll be euthanized by the end of the week. :(

When you are on your feet all day, the proper boots just makes life so much better. That is why I wear caulks for logging. Far as I know, I was the first to do so in Denmark. Now we are 3 and soon 5. But they have all been turned on to caulks by me. Amazing how working in different countries can change the way you do things.

I might pay them a visit next time I come over. I am sad about the Wescos no longer being available. Those have been my daily companions for the last 15 years.
