My best friend and I have made a habit out of having a dressage class every saturday or sunday under a very hard and demanding Swiss teacher. Hard as hell, but also lots of fun for a couple of oldish boys who were in the same riding academy as teenagers.

Thanks, I would love to, but we'll be at the other end. Kirkenes. My wife wants to see what the sub arctic is like in winter and since I really like to travel with her, I'll go as well.

We were so fed up with falling beech trees, that we sceduled a dying Horse Chestnut take down for today, just for a little R&R. Nice fall weather, nice client ( It is a fencing guy we help out now and again). I drew the short straw and had to feed the chipper all day, but it was still nice to do something else. After work I got inspired by Jim's post in the what for dinner thread and made a huge batch of Salsa Verde out of the last Tomatillos and Jalapenos in the tunnel. That turned out real fine. I make two portions, an ultra mild one for the wife and on in the other end of the spectrum for myself. All in all a fine day. Think I'll go for a long ride on the Motorcycle tomorrow, soon that will be impossible.

I wasn't. I went through Paris in 85. Had no luck finding a parking spot, so I eventually said screw it and left again. I've never met a city that I liked. I only lasted one day in London, a few hours in New York and one evening in Jerusalem. Too much traffic, noise and , especially, people. Rome is full of ITALIANS!!

We usually use a laser to mark the height, then put dots of log marking paint every 10 feet. Once that is done, maintaining a level top is a piece of cake. On a straight hedge, that is. On one that follows the curvature of the ground, we do the survey stake thing, and use those to measure where to put the paint dots.

"Always" is a big word. I can't think of anything I've " Always" wanted to own. There are things I've lusted for time and again, but "Always", no. I would like to own one of the new 6 cylinder BMW motorcycles, but the ridiculous 180% import tax on motorcycles here means they cost about half of what I make in a year, so that is not going to happen. I could do it, but there is a limit to what I'll pay for a toy.

Great tree! Reg, we found a way to deal with the drooping branches, which are also common in Redwood and Sequoia. Go SRT. That way you can simply loop the rope over the branch you want, and choke it around the branch with a steel carabiner. That means it won't go sliding off like when you are climbing DRT.

There was a huge accident on the freeway involving a truck and several other cars. So I ended up sitting in stalled traffic for 3 hours, while they extracted the victims and cleared the road. Hell of a way to spend an evening.

Me neither. I just find it weird that a food source that has been eaten by mankind for so long, should suddenly be vilified. If you look at our teeth, it seems to me a grains, roots, veggie diet with the occasional piece of meat, when the hunters got lucky, is what we are made for.

Even with good visibility SENAs are way better than hand signals. I remember Richard, my partner, asking a crane operator how much lift he had on a Linden branch, then telling him to put 300 kgs more on it. When he cut it, it just hung there, going neither up or down. Try doing that with hand signals.
