I just heard that a kid I knew (knew the whole family) is helping to make a new route up El Cap. He has always been an insane climber, a pleasure to watch. Kevin Jorgeson

I went Rockclimbing today - yall tree climbers need to try it if you havent .
Its like heaven - the rock is so pure

I used to climb lots before we had kidlets. Now that they are getting to a good climbing age I might just break out the rack from storage, drop a couple pounds and pull some quartz.

 Very perceptive, Che, but it's not good to question a man's beliefs.

There should be a cash reward if you could verify having climbed a new route up the rock. Those guys need more money, look where they have to sleep! Seriously, I think fifty grand would make the challenge more interesting.

They really don't live on much, spend all their money on gear and food!

That's a cool video.

I used to climb rocks 3-4 days a week, and go on summer road trips in college. So many good memories. So much learning about yourself, and conditioning your mind and body. Just got out on some splitter basalt cracks at Trout Creek in Oregon three weekends ago. So good.

I've been out of the rock climbing news loop, and don't know about Jorgeson, but to be projecting on El Cap with Tommy Caldwell means he's the real deal.

I remember him when he was 16 setting routes on climbing walls. One piece at a time, climb up, figure out where to set the next one back down to get the right pice and back up to set it. Even then he was doing international comps

he is freeclimbing...........not soloing(no rope). big difference

I was impressed with it too, until getting about thirty feet off the ground, then decided that it wasn't for me. Give those guys lots of credit, though.

I got into rock climbing from watching tree guys take down a huge oak that was on a friends house. After I tore some tendons in my hand that took forever to heal I got into tree work. As they say the rest is history.
