That's most interesting, indeed. I don't care for Oregon chains, though.

Who's gonna be the first to buy one???

It is an old 70es idea, that has been reborn.
Back then it was only good for people who absolutely couldn't file a chain for shit.
Your typical office drone turned weekend firewood warrior type.
I surmise it will turn out to be the same deal in it's present reincarnation.

did ya see the climber??? what hitch was he using? and how high do you figure he was? 6 feet up? ;)

Stig has it; it's just a variation on the same old "Sure-Sharp" garbage they had in the 70's. It sucked back then, it more than likely sucks now, too. It still doesn't address the raker issue, either.

I didn't know there were "pros" out there running Wild Things.

what about Oregon bars? i like my power match plus bars :)

Generally I prefer NOT to hit my chain against anything abrasive.. I try my damnedest NOT to rock my chain. Why would I do it on purpose.. That is a POS. Taking advantage of HOs that don't know any better is poor practice in my book...
AT least there was PPE in the video.. :P

If you tried sharpening it, it might help!
I have run Oregon chain since forever, can't abide Stihl chain.
But I'll readily admit that it can't cut for shit right out of the box.

For one thing, it doesn't fit the raker gauges that I use.
Apart from that it is probably just habit.
After sharpening about a roll of Oregon chain a year for over 30 years, I can do it in my sleep.
Everytime I get asked to sharpen someones Stihl chain, it feels awkvard.

Also when Stihl chain is about ½ way worn down, it doesn't work very well for plunge cutting.
Something about the raker configuration, I think.

For you guys talking about stihl and oregon chain cutting speeds. I tested cut speeds of stock chains and machine grinded and atop square guide filed chain. I dont think I had a fresh loop of LG to try. The atop chain was oregon LP 058 goofy and square filed and then my 30 min square atop filed.

I was a little disappointed in my round grinder results I tested for fun too.

I found a nice clean 10"x10" very dry poplar cant in the barn that has been there for well over a year now.

Saw was a 357xp 7T running 93 octane 32:1 and a rich 13.8k. 3 cuts per chain, which allowed for the unseen knot hit and operator error in some of the times.

Chains were work chains tested.

I know factory sharp chains are not the sharpest out of the box, but I wanted to have a base to go off of. So RSLK, RSLHK, CL, RS, factory sharp were tested.

A. Stihl RSLK factory sharp..................................4.09...4.53 ...4.13

B. Stihl RSLHK factory sharp.................................4.47...4.74. .4.28

C. ATOP square sent in by Goran...........................3.41...3.38..3.34

D. ATOP goofy sent in by Goran............................3.75...3.59...3.8 1

E. ATOP sq my 1st try using new guide..................3.96....3.88...3.76

F. Oregon CL factory sharp..................................3.88....4.2 0...4.25

K. Stihl RS factory sharp....................................4.18..... 4.21....4.12

L. Stihl RS grinder sharpened..............................5.09.....5. 06....5.07

M. Woodsman pro RC machine sharpened..............4.71.....4.84....4.75

The ATOP chain I did was a quick job, no gullet cleaning per instructions and I didn't even check the raker's after filing.
