What's wrong with this splice

There's actual core build up at the buldge (not just the cover)? Was it like that when you bought/made it?

I'd surmise the splicer left the tails too long then, or didn't properly taper them.

Nope...

The splicer (me) Milked the hell out of the rope before splicing the second eye (fearing a loosey-goosey cover) and it might've tightened itself up a tiny bit (a mm perhaps), causing the core to bunch up a bit.

Honestly- it's safe to climb on...but I'm going to splice you a new one and send it out. I'm leaving for a backpack trip tomorrow AM....but I'll splice it up next week for you.

I new when you told me about it exactly what had happened. I wanted to see it to be sure.

Bummer.

Did you get to use it for the redwood climb, at least?

I did, but was worried to use it till you approved. If you say it's fine i'll just pay you for another, i do dig the 10 mil
