I have a job coming up where we will have to use a 90 ton crane, due to a long reach. I am used to using a 23 ton boom truck and am wondering how quickly a big crane moves in relation to that? Thanks

Are you referring to hoist speed? Different manufacturers use different hoist motors and gear boxes. I think that the larger cranes usually have two speed hoist motors. Lifting speed doesn't seem like it would be an inhibiting factor, as ratings are generally in the multiple hundreds of feet per minute range. It might be regulated....?

Cranes are as fast as the operator can safely run them , and the loss of speed in swing and hoist are sometimes offset by the fact that they lift more and can move material over a larger distance in less time.

depends on if you are on the auxilary line or main line,
the headache ball would be faster, than the main with all the multiple sheaves it has to go thru
swing speed shouldnt be relavant
