Stable braid end to end splice.

I just completed my first end to end splice in stable braid. It was a very confusing splice for me but it turned out really well. I followed the Samson instructions from the book. My question is how do you perform the stitching/whipping. The instructions didn't mention stitching for the class 1 splice. Do you stitch through the hole or only on either side?

Wait- did you make an eye, or an end to end splice (to make 2 short ropes into 1 long rope)

I made a continuous loop or grommet.

Just stitch right across the entire thing.

How big is the hole?

The hole is 1" in length. It appears to be consistent with instruction in the Samson book.

I stitched it straight through from one side to another.
