I see eye and eye spliced cord for sale but can not find info on how to splice it. This will be my first eye and eye spilce so im am looking for the step by step thaks and HAPPY NEW YEAR:occasion9::occasion9::occasion9:

It's simple. Do locked Brummels on both ends. I usually do a crossed over bury (Tenex style) because Vectran is a high mod material, but I don't think you have to.

Basically it's the same if you do the vectran core following the Samson instructions (but not the measurements) for the Tenex eye-eye splice. Then whip and stitch the cover over it and coat the eyes.

You can do it with the cover scrunched up or you can take the cover off, splice the vectran and then pull the cover on.
Then you whip and stitch the cover down; #4 twine works well. After that it's a good idea to coat the eyes with something to keep them from picking. Whip it-Dip it works well.

If you do a crossover bury, be very precise with your tapers so you don't wind up with thin or thick spots in the middle.

Big snow day so I gave it a shot. When you do the locked brummel do you send the tail all the way to the middle with a taper. This is what I did and I do not like how stiff and fat it is now. What is the shortist tail you can bury. I think it would be ok if the tail was only a couple inches long but I dont know if it will come apart:roll:

Yep you can do a short bury but stick with the specs for a Class 2 (hi-mod) splice, the bury is longer I think.
The crossed taper thing does make it thick and a little stiff but it breaks in.

I prefer the thinner finished product, so I don't do a full crossover. The manufacturer recommends a 4-6" bury on each side. I know some people who go shorter than that on their own gear :)

So it is a locked brummel with a 4" bury?

A 4" bury does this look good

I know I have to lock stitch still but was wondering if this looks good.:)

swampy, not bad for a first splice, but I'm not crazy about your locking Brummel. I drew some lines on your upper splice: the green line follows the cover and the black line follows the core. The black line takes a much sharper turn than the green, meaning you don't have good symmetry in the Brummel. It also means, when the eye is loaded, there will be very little load on the buried core (black), because it is already effectively partly pulled out.

This is a rather complex subject, and Nick and I have had some small debates about this, but I think everyone would agree that the Brummel should look highly symmetrical. This would imply that both legs of the rope, where the buried splice begins, would bear equal shares of the overall load.

Your lower splice looks MUCH better than the upper. As far as safety goes, I doubt if there is much difference. If either splice comes apart, the Brummel will save the day. With the very short bury you are employing, you are really betting your life on the Brummel, not the splice.

I would not be against shit canning this or redoing the top splice. I have a real nice cord tied with a dbl fishermans that I am starting to really like. So the question is would you climb on it? I know it still needs to be lock stiched. It came out to be less than 28" and when tied in a Diestel with 3 wraps up and the one under the 4" burys worked out great. The bury was in the legs of the hitch and it just seems perfect with the hitch climber.:what:

You're on the right track. I would start the bury of the tail closer to the brummell. This allows more pinching action- the outside strands will keep the tail from unravelling.

You could also gently lock stitch the tail in before putting the core back on.
