Excellent vid and an excellent speaker... It is truly amazing the ecosystem we often take for granted in what we do and what surrounds us... WOW.

I quit watching about a minute in when he said that nobody had ever counted the growth rings on a redwood.

You should have watched a little more. He went on to tell about his two buddies who free-climbed to the top of one. No rope, no saddle, just climbed up a smaller tree then "leaped" across and caught a branch and continued climbing up the bark. :/:

I have issues with how they are so secretive about tree locations.
Read that book, and it does glorify that numbnut's story about free climbing.

Why, Brain....You didn't listen to what he said, which was right.....

I dont agree with hiding the locations of these trees...i know that theyre worried about compaction or reckless ninja climbers damaging trees but what about tree lovers who want to spend the day or night just hangin out in a fat old rewood
and to go climb with steve..supposedly you have to have some certification..blah blah blah..certified my arse

oh well, i saw a guy from national geographic the other day up here doing a story on steve, i showed him pics of topped stripped redwoods and tried to explain the plight of propper arborculture to him......but he said if he wanted any more info..he'd talk to steve
