Set up a gopro on a tripod in a safe place and either tape the whole job or set it on the intermittent mode where it takes a snap every 30 secs. The vid is better for snipping action shots with the only downfall being everything from the same angle/distance.

It's a dry cold, a wet cold cuts thru like a knife. Sleeting right now warmish hovering around freezing but suppose to warm to just above freezing.

Erickson sky crane. "Your removal will cost $40,000.00 for a 10" dbh ash with absolutely no turf impact" might be a tough sell.

Otterbox. Same phone, day-in, day-out, in my pocket. Phone rule: nothing else goes in that pocket with the phone, and keep the screen side to my body.

I've also heard certain legit dealers buy the saws themselves, and so are allowed to price how they want. Maybe not for Stihl? I can't remember where I read that. Do they usually drop the price a bit on new releases after a few years or less?

My guess, heli-craning whole trees over neighborhoods is a no-no. Fun, but a no-no. What is the wind speed and force under a helicopter?

I usually leave it in the truck to avoid breaking it, getting it wet with sweat and covered in sawdust, and the camera features aren't that great. Plus the lens is usually smeared with nothing clean around to wipe it off.

I've always thought someone could use a huge military helicopter to just haul off whole trees after 1 stump cut to a place where they can be processed (a field to burn them, or mulch making plant). Such a helicopter could stay busy in Nashville, but it would sure cost a lot. Makes me wonder if the money saved from time and wear on the usual equipment would be able to pay for such a service if every tree company got together to use a helicopter. $20-50M for the helicopter, 10 ton capacity, unknown fuel cost...

Is you phone not in your pocket, nearby? For me, I always have my phone with me, but I'm not an employee. While climbing, I often have some down-time.

SS, is that PowerHeadOnly? I thought that there was an MSRP that everyone had to stick to, and 'freebies' would make up any incentive????

You're only supposed use one extension (about 3'). I have used a HT131 or whatever the big boy is. Its way heavy and limited use for me. I rarely use a pole chainsaw. I think I've seen a video of three extensions plus the pole saw shaft/ gearbox bar making about 20' or reach. My orchard ladders extend the reach, and allow better cuts, as its lightweight. I can about one-hand the powerhead and pole with no extension (sometimes when whacking stuff back, pulling down a branch and whacking the end off is enough for the task at hand, like sectioning back a long upward-growing limb where you need out of reach tips). I have a blower (step up from handheld Stihl, before the BR600). I have the brush cutter blade, string trimmer, hedge shear that I use a couple times a year (I've been working on shearing low branches around conifers that people want to be able to mow around easily, rather than canopy raising, creating problems, and losing screening. I have some hedge at home. A few in the mix at customers houses. There is a new electric Kombi with all electric tools. Too bad the electric doesn't just spin the drive shaft on old tools. There is a power broom that I'm considering, but its a $400 attachment IIRC, and I don't know how it will work. Probably once you have the main parts, the other wheels (bristle broom, rubber paddle broom, IDK if there is a third) would be a small add-on. Would work for light snow, stump chips, not sure about rakings, though, which is what I really want if for. Stump chips move with a blower, to a degree, and I have 3.

5" of snow last night. Date night out was a bit hindered by the 40MPH top speed people were willing to drive on the hwy, but understandable given the blowing snow conditions. Still going to try to work today so as to finish off the property manager's list, just wait out the morning crunch hour and give the plows more time to catch up.
