Worked for a friend's mother today at a friendly day rate, by a private lake in an exclusive neighborhood. Rolled with the bucket truck & chip truck today. I did a canopy raising on a white oak, then removed six small hackberries along the property line along with briars and other saplings. We took out two silver maples (clear drops) and a medium hackberry. First full day of spring, and I was sweating a good bit even at 60˚F -- salt stains on the t-shirt. She bought us gourmet pizza and energy tea for lunch -- yum! Fixed a few shorter ruts and again picked up the plywood highway leading to the back yard. AlturnaMats coming soon. Our $50 deal on sheets of OSB & random plywood is quickly getting chewed up after 2-3 jobs.

Not my own photo -- just representative of the injury (black/purple, double size foot). I didn't have the bacon look, that's for sure.

Same with my ankle ligament injury. Would've been better if I would've broken it, but 8 weeks of physical therapy and not letting it atrophy and continuously working it since have kept the range of motion open and helped bring improvement where it felt as though it would never fully heal. But there is scar tissue and soreness develops flexing on terrain and by end of day. I'll never run any distance again, but at least I'm daily functional.

Today went well enough. More street trees. Lots of wires. Lowered down a nest of baby squirrels and left the hollow piece by the stump in hopes that mama comes back to relocate them. Oh and the 1250 Vermeer was sold yesterday. Looks like I’m buying more gear tomorrow

Wasn’t my cup of tea but it worked. Looked like he thought it should’ve went a few times. I cut and walk away on a pull tree. I don’t pussyfoot around cutting more from one side or the other If I carried, I wouldn’t be all day long. No reason. Then again I don’t have reason to.

I have a Fresnel lens from an old school big screen TV. It can enlarge things HUGELY like that (and more). Or on the more devious end, you can reverse it and focus sunlight to the point of frying an egg, boiling water, or melting metal! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jrje73EyKag" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

That's because you don't have Murphy's skid steer to pull it where you want it to go! :boogie:

Now that we have a bucket truck, have to put a crane on our bucket list. The grapple truck has gotten us by for "crane work" but at some point we'll have to get a proper one. Funny though, we haven't hired a crane in over 2 years here. At least now we've worked for a crane company owner on their custom home lot, so we have a good contact if we do need to hire one in.

Rear Mount seems obviously the smartest for tree work. But I got this baby for 49 k so. . . I like it.

Around here they are in the majority ime. Also, if you want bigger capacity crane I guess you would have to get a rear mount. I've never seen bigger than 26t mounted behind the cab.

AH, looks like you are hitting alot a home runs with your crane. Now that you've had it for awhile, are you thinking you'd like a rear mount or are you happy with behind the cab mount?
