Sorry for my absence. I have been busy (back logging as well) and just decided to have a look about on the Tree House. Have commented on another topic here tonight so I am trying. Can't believe it has been so long ago that Gerry came and stayed. We had such a good time getting about and doing. Logging and tree climbing have so much in common accross the Pacific. Looking at the images that Gerry captured reminds me of his time here so vividly. More importantly his naration of the pictures gives a quality story that only an extreemly competant tree person could. Many thanks Gerry. BTW turned 60 in Sep. Regards

Yep Dave...two. my true Browning from approx 1970 and my Dad's Norinco Chinese knockoff version. Nice Steven. A buddy of mine had a Fox Stevens over under when we used to hunt ducks before classes at GA Tech. Just before daylight one the morning I saw him drop it in a Beaver Creek with his flashlight as he almost fell off a log we were crossing. The flashlight was shining on the shot gun about 5 feet under water. It was probably 25 degrees and he stripped down to his underwear and went in and got that shot gun. We heard the ducks fly over and land nearby as he was in the water getting the gun. He took it out , used his clothes to dry it off and we hunted ducks after that. We got a mess of them for Thanksgiving dinner that year. I bet he kept it forever.

It's been a while since I have been about. Still working 6-7 days a week between hand felling for logging and climbing for my tree company . Am 60 now and climbing for 42 years. Hand felling where the harvesters can't access in 35- 45 deg slope plus rock gives my legs more of a workout than climbing some days. Last Sunday they shut down the landing and I burnt 16 liters of fuel in my saw. Thank goodness for cold beer. Regards Graeme

Yes I know them, not personally, been to a few functions where they would have been also, but my goodness, Peggy is road running royalty! Very good family the Butterfields, nice people. Went to school with a Couper...she was a bit younger than me, but we tussled in cross country and a bit of triathalon back in the day.

Thanks all. When I get off these islands in the middle of the Pacifc, I’ll have to go check out the Great Basin National Park.

The tree was very brittle & a real nightmare to chip & tidy up. A lot of branches shattered when they hit the ground so it was beneficial to rig. We had enough room to pull 3 x 10ft sections off and fell the remaining 30ft, but we had to be really careful with the bowing 250 year old wall and fell 90 degrees to it. (The wall was the reason for the removal)

When I was a kid a nice older man who just happened to be shooting skeet with us let me shoot his Browning Superimposed. Even though the gun did not fit me for beans I shot a lot better with it.

Butch, in training the idea is to knee with the inside of the thigh to avoid unnessary injuries. Obviously in a fight you would put the knee cap inand try and cause injury.. Cheers Cory. I hadn’t realised he had uploaded that clip. 14000 people have now witnessed the 80kg woodpecker. He is the clip one of the lads sent me. Different angle. https://youtu.be/X0D6CH0ucFE

Since I am cleaning the 12ga's from tonight..... Here is my ol friend Remmy 1100 trap with a fixed full choke barrel. Bought her used a while back. Kinda fell in love with her classic loom and stock grain. Great shooter. Might put a different barrel on her so i can change the choke. Wont take a 3"mag, so her duty is limited. Every beginner shooter that has tried her has upped thier score from what ever they were shooting first time out. Something about her.....
