Yes, but shooting deer with ear tags is frowned upon. Especially if they are in the neighbors shed.

Coldest Feb is 80 years.....reportedly. About a foot of hard snow on the level.

No snow here either. This used to be the coldest time of winter and today was 40 dergees outside. Winter is a thing of the past, here. At least until the Polar Vortex breaks, that is predicted to chill us down some.

I'm the wrong guy to ask, as I maybe use them once a year. I have a thing going with a local operator, if it can't be got to with his truck, he refers to me, and if it is stupid to try to climb, i refer to him. We are VERY careful not to get in each other's way.

Put a little silicone grease on those corner screws. I've only found one thing wrong with it so far and we have used them over 6 months in logging so that is about 1000 hours on each. The outside dogs are two weak for logging, we've broken several. But they don't cost much to replace and I think they'll hold up better for arb work.

I'm back from a week of killing hazard trees. We had to deal with Ganoderma ssp., Meripilus giganteum, Polyporus squamosis and Fomes fomentarium. A mycophiles dream, except a lot of the trees were next to buildings. We had a climbing team, a bucket team and a pull trees team, all working at the same time. We used of the first day categorizing the trees and planning who did what and where. The weather was fine to OK and at the end of the week, we had everything on the ground. At the final, " Let us have a cup of tea/coffe and a review" we could look back at a week of high pressure work, where not a single branch fell the wrong way. I really feel proud of the guys.

That is where Alkylate fuel really shines. It never goes bad. Grab a saw that has been sitting for a year, shake it and pull the starter handle........off you go!

2 stroke oil has stabilizers in it, worse case i would use sea foam, been around longer and is an awesome product. You can also use sea foam in diesel, so if you get a bad batch of fuel or condensation in it, add some sea foam and it will go from spitting and sputtering with no power to running smoother than it ever has in 5 min. The best would be use non ethanol, even if you gotta run across town after work to get it, or just use the prebottled stuff in the 880 only. Ethanol is hard on plastics (like your carb reeds) and attracts water like no other, so that's what actually is happening to it. If you dump and run it out of the saw when you are done for the day you shouldn't have problems, because your regular gas mix will be constantly fresh.

Metal detector. I am the guy who lends one out here. Bet there is someone there you could borrow one from. My cheap ass one has found a lot. I should upgrade. Shopped around but have a hard time spending that much on a good one. Don't really treasure hunt. Guess I could take it up. Cheap one is $100. They go up to over $1000. I have the cheap Walmart $100. Found my cell phone in the snow once. Hay loft another time. If you think treasure hunting could be fun look at high end.

Do they use Ethanol in Oz? Anyone have experience with fuel stabilizers like this one our saw shop carries? https://www.amazon.com/Star-Tron-Enzyme-Fuel-Treatment/dp/B001VMNHX8/ Probably only an issue in the 880, since all the other saws are in constant use, never sit longer than a day or two between uses.

I leave this browser (Opera) logged in & cookied. I have Safari the same way with the "forestkeepers" account. No issue with either one. Only got locked out after Brandon moved us to the Digital Ocean droplet and changed to HTTPS mode. Then I had to recover the PW, which was more difficult since the signup was an odd office e-mail address, not a personal one. Short story: nothing like you are experiencing!

Butch, I do get the "remember me" box to check upon logging in, and unless I erase all of my cookies, it still remembers my data the next time I come to the forum. I just have to click on the "Log in" button, and it happens without me having to re-enter my username and password.

You can get an external fuel pump at any auto parts store for maybe like 20 bucks... will definitely get you going again till you get the internal one, or just run the external one.

I have always used 50:1, some of my saws sit for 9 months at a time a couple times recently they sat for almost two years. I run them dry at the end of every work visit, they get stored in a shed (one year they lived in dehumidified glory in a basement). When I get back, I gas them up and about five pulls later, off we go. Been doing this for 10 years, no problems.
