From here I will re-post pics from 2007 as well as everything new in 2008. so be patient and give me time. The new season starts on may 10th in Sequim Wa. Also the Predator will debut in Hotrod magazine in the June issue which comes out in the middle of may. Sorry I cannot post those pics yet as I have an agreement with hotrod that I cannot use the pics until after July.
Here is this years crew. From left to right. Kieth Hill, Cowboy Sean, Rotax Robert and Kevin Lyons. Dale Smith (not pictured) he pussed out due to the weather.

Sure enjoy learning about the PREDATOR!
Thanks for posting, the TH also had a discussion on how you guys sharpen your chains for competition.
Do you file down the straps, and do those other things to your chains? Or is it all engine power?

I put race angles on the teeth and adjust raker height but do not touch the chassis of the chain. We have more power than the chain can take and it would certainly break should we tamper with the chassis/frame of the chain.

You can count on me being there to lift with you. Done deal.
Dave's party is in August right? I'll be out of the state in June. I missed last year's party....my invite must have gotten lost in the mail. :whine:
In actuality, Dave doesn't know me from Adam. Kinda one of those, "I know him, but he doesn't know me," type of thing.

Rotax here, but just barley or hopps....loooooooong weeeeeeeeend. The mighty Predator took first, but not buy much. We did not make a great cut, and it damn'd near cost us.
29" dia. fir (hard).. the fooking thing was shaaacking our teeth out in the cut. That would be akin to you southern folks loosing 4 or 5 generations.
Just the same, the Mighty PREDATOR took 1st.
I'll fill in the blanks later for the the small saws, where our old freind "Art" and Kevin showed there stuff, and OHHHH YEAHHH, they stuffffffed them, including me. I'll throw a link when it loads.

I hope to go, maybe bring my whole crew as well. But, after last year's crummy weather at both Deming and Buckley, and this "Juneuary" ushering in boatloads of snow at Mt Rainier..with maybe 1-2 more feet coming tomorrow, don't know if i'll wanna hang out at another wet show... maybe by next weekend it might actually be a tad warmer?
Here's my ski bud Wayne (and wife Liz hoping he doesn't start cutting) posing yesterday at his lakefront house near Kapowsin. nice 600 bf cedar I dismantled, then pruned a bit on a 44" dbh fir with his deck built around it..forgot to get pics.

I can't speak for Robert but can tell you about the auto industry and I only assume that aero space is about the same .
It's like the gold rush .You can make money by the bushel baskets but it becomes a burden at times especially if you are skilled trades . Working 70 hours per week you have little time for much else . It just goes with the territory in a manner of speaking .

Well they got me again. MANDATORY OVERTIME :X. Lucky for me I just switched over to 3rd (grave yard) shift so I will be there for the show. That should make for a tough weekend since I had one too many cans of loud mouth the other day and entered most of the events and now I'll have to do it with no sleep:what:.
Old monkey. yeah we are real busy, thats a good part of the reason I switched to 3rd shift so I don't have to miss any more shows. Kinda tough with the travel time involved in alot of these shows as well as the show itself and work and trying to fill any void you can with a bit of shut-eye. Lucky for me this show is close to home.

Hey, Jeff...just saw your post. I cut the buttresses off, so my 28 inch bar would do the job more easily. and the tipped face has happened to me before when I make an under cut of a Humboldt first. Only reason I bothered with that open face was to keep it from jumping laterally off the stump. Tight drop zone, both width and length.

Tight DZ? Maybe try and leave that East Coast crap at home, and do your horizontal cut first like a human. keep making those crooked facecuts you'll soon be starting a demo on a house.:P:P:P

It was damn near a dissaster for the first day, in stock saw I pulled the starter rope out of the spool. In Modified hotsaw (double ender) I am in 1st and the Unlimited Hotsaw I made maybe the worst cut of my life and we are in 2nd place with about 4 tenths to make up today. (almost impossible to make up)
Wrenched my back so damn bad I am wondering if I can lift today or not but I immagine I have one more in me this weekend.
Roger should be posting some pics as he stopped by and took numerous pics and visited, great guy he is. The weather is pushing 100 degrees which is very rare for around here and is beating everybody up pretty good.
I'll post some pics when I get them downloaded.

Obstacle pole bucking. They race to the log run up it start the saw make two cuts shut th saw of and race back to the start. Several shows around here run this event.

first time I saw that I thought they were nuts! no PPE sprinting up the pole, drop start the saw and make two cuts at your feet as you bend over awkwardly then run back down the pole and touch the bottom, hopefully they turn the saw off as the start running back !

so is that for scaling out the right lengths when you get to the upper parts of the trunk?
see the end of the log is broken? happens sometimes in the skidding process, the mill has "prefered lengths" that the logs need to be when they get to the mill. hes out there bucking back to the next prefered length, you can see the tape on the log

There is a mark on the log where saw can be started and has to be shutoff.
Also a mark on the bottom where they must jump on the log. The line at the top is where you can start the saw as well as hit the kill (prior) to crossing on your way down. 8)
