This thread was pretty popular.

I'll restart...

The whole shabang...
New Chipper...
Mini Skid...
The chipper I wish I still had sometimes...

Never seen a tool box mounted on a chipper like that. Cool!

You outta plywood your headache rack. :drink:

Wouldn't that make it slippery?

MasterBlaster

Heck no, and it'll protect the cab even more. Plus, instant shade. And it just looks cleaner, no more twigs and crap getting stuck in the diamond grid. It REALLY helps if you have any leaking lines.

And sucks at stop lights.

No, you just can't drive up under them. It's no biggie at all.

You've mentioned this plywood thingy to me before too. Anyone else do this, any pics? I got no problemo with the sun I wear shades.8)

Pics? Pics wouldn't show much.

Trust me. Do it and I guarantee you will be a happy camper.

Most cab guars have solid sheet metal to about the middle of the hood. A full cab guard is a huge airfoil, one of my buckets has a full sheetmetal guard and it is noticably different going down the road.

I prefer only having the solid cover to about the middle of the hood. This keeps the cab shaded but still allows some visibility when looking forward towards the traffic lights. I would not want a solid cover all the way forward.

MasterBlaster

That's my preference, too.

It doesn't have to extend all the way to the front.

But if it does, it ain't that bad. It comes in handy when you're in tight quarters and have to throw the brush on top of the headache rack.

looks like steves is set up right, sheet steel over most of it and expanded metal over the rest. plenty of shade with that setup and i concur, any more and youd have to get out of the truck to see the stop light:D

I throw the brush on top of the headache rack.

I thought I only did that:/:

It's probally just the two of us. ;)

Mine has sheet steel under the expanded metal extending a couple of feet ahead of the bottom of the windshield. It makes the cab noticeably cooler in the summer.

I would think plywood would be quieter, even cushioning/dampening to an extent. My fantasy truck would have shock absorbers in the headache rack struts. Cool.

Make it 3, though i would rather use the bed...

Of course! It's only done when that's the only way out.

And it doesn't happen that often.

Mine's set-up the same way on the cab guard. And I don't like to drop stuff on the truck but it is a work truck afterall.:D

Andrew, I'd love to be able to put a headache rack on my bucket similar to the one on your tree spade truck. I'll definitely be talking to some local welders after I get the new truck and see what we can come up with.

Here's some of the Equipment we use.

The CAT bobcat and Vermeer stump grinder too.
Those pics seem to be more hidden right now.

How does that international chip truck drive when towing that large chipper.

Looks like the rear axle is set forward very far.

I'll put up another pic of my blue truck. With any luck and a tiny prayer I just might be driving another truck in a week or two. :D

The rear axle is way far up, per design.

This truck turns on a dime, very maneuveuarable (spelling).
It has no problem loaded with chips and chipper.

That log truck rips loaded also.
The new bucket truck is a dog though, gutless with terrible gearing.

Brian, you have quite the collection on gas cans.

Skwerl
01-20-2008, 02:53 PM
Boat mix, saw mix, regular gas for the generator (left over from the hurricanes 3 years ago), etc. etc. I need to throw out about half of them. Ever since getting a 'no-spill' can last summer the rest of them are garbage anyway.

The no spill can is worth it then. Have not seen any locally yet.

Several copies but not the original.

damn you got some serious air under them front tires! All i ever worry about leveling is the side to side of the truck, course its different when we only got 2 out riggers.

Is that truck supposed to be leveled cause its a material handler? Never flown anything but a "tree" boom, over center altec lr5 and a lr3
