I'll start it off with this, part Mad Max, part Escape From LA, part I Am Legend. At first I thought "Meh" but then they ran into the bad guys and it got good.
Check it out, Doomsday. (http://movies.yahoo.com/premieres/5956065/standardformat/)

oh, that and the fact that one of the young fellas I hired on was a stepson of Mr Canada a few years ago (like 10 to 15), said that mr Stallone came in to a gym one morn to work out, saw Mr Canada doing his thing and shortly retired to the showers. Poor Mr Stallone, couldn't hack trying to be big next to someone more than 5' 6" tall... :D

A series on HBO in its fifth and final season. Hands down greatest show on TV right now. Written by an ex-cop and an ex-reporter from Baltimore Maryland. Hard to pin it down to a particular genre because every season is different, but the charactors and sub plots are intertwined. watch it if you can, you won't be sorry.........

Larry David is a funny dood fo sho. Sorry to hear about the pay channels though, I'd be lost without HBO and Stern, and On demand. can you get any relief by bundling your phone, internet, and cable?
MasterBlaster
01-25-2008, 03:21 PM
Yeah, it's bundled, $42 for TV and $43 for an internet connection. Pay channels would be an extra $25 or more, and I would hardly even watch them anyway.
Paul B
01-25-2008, 09:03 PM
whoa. we pay about $30 for ADSL, $55 for cable including up to about channel 60 or so (the third tier package), then about $90 for our phone via a different company.

I've never seen one, I can only imagine.
They're well worth the time & effort to git to one, Butch.
There's 2 types >>> One is flat screen & requires 3-D glasses (Virginia Beach Science Museum), the other (more common) is shown on a dome screen.
Both are really cool !
Our Science Museum of Detroit is closed on Sundays, which blows. They've gotta dome screen & show 3 different films.
But check it out in your area. Betcha betcha the science places will have one ?

This is probably a haul for you...

try figuring bit torrents out MB, you can find damn near anything there, not sure about recent TV shows but movies are on there before they are in the theater!
I just watched Juno the other night with the wife, pretty cool show. Tonight I think its gonna be Golden Compass on the computer :)

Paul B
03-18-2008, 10:07 PM
its actually simple. you download and install the bit torrent software then go to the other two sites and search for media, double click and wait for the file to download, then hit play. It uses multiple random spaced downloads to make DL time as minimal as possible. I have downloaded like 6 movies with not much problem so far. A couple have taken like 12 hours to DL so I just left the comp on overnight. some have loaded in like an hour.

xtremetrees
03-19-2008, 07:38 AM
It takes a while to download movies and it slows my computer down so much that I mostly download while asleep. You can throttle up your bandwith by right clicking the download I think.
Searching the files (4 billion dwnlds) and many books. I downloaded Ed Rosethall's (an author at High Times) book that Ive heard so much about for decades.
I got about 5 or 6 movies too Paul but some of them are having problems trans coding.Furthermore some are in French and even more are actual camcorders folks take to the newly released movies.(Hear um munching popcorn). And see people walk infront of the screen. So, preview the movie before you burn it. After you download whatever the large files are stored on your hard drive in what should be the download folder so you may want to purge them off every 10 movies or so after you transcode and burn them.
Nero DVD buring software came with my DVD burner. It's easy software to fly but I didnt register mine so now it wont transcode the avi/mov whatever. It seems I will have to purchase new DVD authoring software. The transcode of each movie takes about as long as it does to play it, the actual burning process takes about 10 minutes. I went to www.dowload.com and tried to find some dvd authoring software thats free and not just a trial. I've tried a few bundles with no luck. Ill keep trying.
I did transcode the latest UFC fight. I burnt it onto two DVD's and sent it to my Father as he enjoies UFC. At the time it was pay per view only event at the cost of $44.00

lots of stuff is available. sut search the video area for any movie you can think of. The software is basically a peer to peer shareware thing, the big difference is that it can download from multiple users at multiple file points (you dont need to have the full file to be sharing it up and down to others).

I have The Big Trees on DVD. Pretty cornball but still neat because of the trees.
I found Hancock to be pretty enjoyable. Since it will appeal to kids I would have preferred that the loanguage be a bit less foul......but the whole theme was about finding purpose in life and accepting oneself. Plenty of laughs,Charlize Theron, some action , Charlize Theron, gratuitous violence and destruction, and Charlize Theron. What's not to like?
This scene from Wanted makes me wanna see the flick, check it out. (http://www.empireonline.com/video/wanted/clip1.asp)

no worries, the other site I use for torrents is isohunt.com and piratebay.com.
a torrent works different than peer to peer download, it basically takes the number of users with a file and divides the file into that many bits, then downloads those bit simultaneuosly intoa file. a good lock on a file (movie) with 50 or more users can be an hour or less to DL.

Anyone else besides me notice how T.V. has mostly gone to series shows ?
I don't think the series shows are anywhere near as good as a good movie.
My thinking is that it is cheaper for them to make a series than a good movie. Also, the series shows don't hire actual good actors, just recycles day time soap actors from show to show.

Ok, up until tonight The Dark Knight was the best movie I had seen all year(think Academy Awards). Tonight we went to see Slumdog Millionaire. It was a great film. I highly recommend it.

watched Horton hears a who tonight, it was cute, then we watched Ron Burgundy Anchorman, seen it already but since the wife is dozing off and I like Will Ferrel, its all good, I can giggle while she snoozes.

Life's too short to read subtitles. I don't watch a movie to read, nor do I read to watch a movie.
