I happened to tape this and thought I'd share it...no big thing at all. I DID dump the limb directly onto the line...

light limb,
strong line,
dump the limb,
save some time.

That almost rhymed.

ID help, please...the last half of the video is for the sound...can anyone tell me what kind of creature makes that sound? I assume it is some kind of bird but it is not one I have ever heard before...taped at a state park near Atlanta.

Hard to tell, sounds almost like a peacock. There's a bunch of them around the southern end of the chain of lakes where I fish. They can make a racket!

Sure does sound like a peacock. Rackett... man they can be flat out annoying!
I tried to grab a feather once while I was at the Museum of Appalachia, and yah.... they are a hell of a lot faster than me.

Yeah, peacock, sounds like.

Nice speed line trick there. I always like it when it works like that.

On another note, I'd suggest you hook a generator up to that handsaw arm of yours. There wont be any power outages this winter.

Hahaha...you are right about the handsaw. When I watched the video I wondered, "Now why in the HHHH didn't I take the chainsaw up???" :banghead:

I think you guys are right about the peacock...I have heard them as a boy in S. Ga. before but have not heard them here before...somebody near the park must have one.

Man, I would NEVER wear my arm or blade out on a limb of that size. Use your chainsaw!

John,

That's the cry I remember from my S. Ga. days. I'm assuming they might have more than one sound (like crows do) and that my video sound is their "other" cry".

I am still open to somebody knowing for sure.

The first thing I thought was peahen. There are bunchs of them here at the arboretum and they sound sorta like that.

Personally, I think it was Gary.

Regarding the handsaw....I'm glad to carry up a handsaw for branches like that, rather than lugging around a chainsaw. I think you can mess up your back and hips lugging around saws on your saddle all the time.
