Brett, my dad told me about logging the Savannah River some years ago. I guess that river was used for logging back in the day and of course some of the wood was lost to the river. Years later, some folks realized the importance and value of the wood lost and attempted to recover it. From what he told me, the wood they were able to resurface was very beautiful and valuable.

There is a company up in Upper Michigan that pulls old growth logs off the bottom of Lake Superior.
The wood was harvested in Canada and put into the lake to transport it. Some of those old growth logs were so dense they sank.
Pretty fantastic if you think about it.

In New Zealand they do another kind of reclamation logging, digging huge ancient kauri logs out of peat bogs. Some of these trees have been sitting there for thousands of years.
